Marten Noorduin published in 201 an important article with the telling title: Czerny's 'impossible' metronome marks. The obvious answers were in front of the author but, as with many others, he presumably didn't see it. And since he used also the metronomisation Czerny made for Bach's work as an example of the impossibility, and since Czerny relates to Beethoven, we can safely say that, in case a modern reading of the metronome is correct, Beethoven hated Bach.
