Beethoven is just so sensible with his pieces, this sonatas are so pristine as well as many of his other masterpieces. I'd really would consider listening to this before I want to improvise. It seems like there are many lost sounds, mixture of notes, tempos I just can only find in his music. He really was and still is the best composer of all times.

Good Lord, I listened to the last movement thinking I liked the tempo but it was kind of on the outer edge of "non troppo," like one more beat per minute and it would be troppo, and what was he going to do with the "Più Allegro quasi Presto" at the end--and then he did it. Kind of like Mark Twain's description of a jackrabbit in "Roughing It." Going to go listen to Barenboim's recording so I can feel a little better about my tempo.

Holy crap. I hate David Goode, but this is fantastic. This is my second favorite recording of this sonata after Edwin Fischer. They are very similar recordings, I think Edwin Fischer's though was the best, however I never knew that an interpretation similar too his exists, but it turns out at least one does. This is amazing. I have played this sonata for years, and I am trying to interpret it in this style, I will definately use this recording to help me.

Well, his third movement has some flaws, and the forth movement does have a few too, but it is still great.

John O'Conner & Richard are the only pianist I can find whom have the correct tempo and balls for this Sonata, this is not Mozart this is not Haydn it's Beethoven. If you don't have John O'Connor's complete Beethoven sonatas I need to get it

Heard this played much more slowly, by a Russian pianist. Very strange but interesting. Anybody know who that pianist was?
