From Beethoven's "Late Stage"; the music is other-worldly, in a class and a genre all it's own. Beethoven always lifts my spirits and gives me hope that there is always some beauty to be found in this weary world. Nicely played by these young ladies.

The 3rd mvt. of this piece is one of the most beautiful sequences of music ever composed. The first 3 minutes especially...sublime, the sound of the passage of time.

PG 89: Impossible to argue with that, but of course, Beethoven inserted so many little (and huge) gems in his music that an assessment like yours has added weight.

@@waggishsagacity7947 I agree with Thomas. PG's comment is a statement about himself, not this performance. Then your comment speaks of "little gems" meaning you don't grasp Beethoven's genius -- as if he is picking daisies or something. Then, thinking that PG's fatuous comment has "added weight" because of it. Yes, I concur: BS

There's a slight error. Description says "Beethoven String Quartet in A minor, Op.132 No.15", piece is actually "Beethoven String Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Op.132". It's Beethoven's 15th string quartet. To say "Op. 132 No. 15" means it would be the 15th piece in opus 132 - which would really be a long opus!

It's wonderful that this is a women's quartet, who give, get and gain as much as any male or mixed ensemble from the score; yet the worth of their performance is not because they are women (though that surely plays major part) but because they play with as much passion, understanding, devotion and skill as any others, sink into her

For some reason, the second movement was omitted. Otherwise this is an outstanding job. The Holy Song of Thanksgiving is sublime. Both violinists have excellent ensemble sense. The first violin cuts back when others must shine. The other first violin contributes very substantially and is not afraid to step forward when necessary. (Notice that I do not say "second violin", but instead "other first violin". Both are first violinists; they just play different parts. This also holds true in orchestral music and in Bach's concerto for two violins.)

This is one of the finest performances of this quartet I've ever heard. But oh boy, no second movement! The quartet hardly makes sense without it, providing as it does such a lyrical respite between the surrounding movements. I had to find a version elsewhere then come back to yours for the Heiliger Dankgesang!! I hope you'll consider doing a complete version some time. I have the Lindsays, the Busch and the Hollywood doing this, and you're fully up there with all of 'em!s
