important point: Fürtwängler hated the music of Wagner in the beginning of his career. But in order to have any chans to make a career as a conductor in Germany, even before Hitler came along, he had to incoroorate Wagner into his repetoire. Which he did, much so by reinterpreting him in his own way. Some say that Fûrtwängler wagnerized Beethoven. The theme of the Ode to Joy is almost note for note quoted from the motet "Misericordias Domini" KV 222 W. Mozart!

The mind is an incredible thing. When I first heard Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" conducted by Andre Previn, it played out entirely in my mind while I slept that night--and it was even more intense then the actual listening experience I had with the recording.

I hear music in my head all the time. I wake up in the morning with a different song/ piece of music playing. I am not even the disc jockey, someone else/ something else is making the decision what is playing. Sometime I don't even like the song. Usually I do. And it is more intense than when I look up the song on KZbin and play the real version.

The essence of Beethoven : Joy is summoned by the power of the will in spite of the horrors and amidst the turmoil of history... it is not a festival or a mere celebration as many tought... Here is expressed the origin of all celebration and then cannot be a celebration but a summoning ... it is an expression of the sacred which is terror and joy at the same time... Others Maestros cannot direct it as Beethoven thought of it; apocalypsos : revelation... If someone want mere beautiful music for a festive celebration Furtwangler is not the choice...And Beethoven never write a carnival music anyway ... Furtwanglwer is not Walt Disney...

@denistremblay8029 Жыл бұрын

Ars artia gratis. Furtwängler is a heroic genius standing on a level where beethoven's 9th tranceded the banality of the führer's birthday april 20 1942 which ironically coincided with the turning of the tide of the war in spring/summer of 1942. Man plans and God laughs. Es leben Furtwängler, Beethoven und. Deutcheland. Alle menschen werden brüder.

Joy, beautiful spark of the gods, Daughter from Elysium, We enter, drunk with fire, Heavenly One, thy sanctuary! Your magic binds again What convention strictly divides;* All people become brothers,* Where your gentle wing abides. Who has succeeded in the great attempt, To be a friend's friend, Whoever has won a lovely woman, Add his to the jubilation! Indeed, who calls even one soul Theirs upon this world! And whoever never managed, shall steal himself Weeping away from this union! All creatures drink of joy At nature's breast. Just and unjust Alike taste of her gift; She gave us kisses and the fruit of the vine, A tried friend to the end. [Even] the worm has been granted sensuality, And the cherub stands before God! Gladly, as His heavenly bodies fly On their courses through the heavens, Thus, brothers, you should run your race, Joyful, like a hero going to conquest. You millions, be embraced. This kiss is for all the world! Brothers, above the starry canopy There must dwell a loving Father. Do you fall in worship, you millions? World, do you know your creator? Seek him in the heavens Above the stars must He dwell. LIVE, FLY.
