Kletzki’s Pastoral was my introduction to this magnificent piece of music, via a used vinyl LP I found at a record store (remember those?) in Greenwich Village in the early 1980s. I think I was 19 years old at the time. What a happy and formative discovery it was. Thank for sharing

I will eternally owe to our circumspect music teacher who introduced us to the Pastorale directed by Kletzki 46 years ago. Not the grandseigneur Karajan, not that old perv Bernstein, but the noble battle & life proof Kletzki and the Czech Philharmony was his choice. Eternally grateful to him.

Your story very similar to mine. Kletzki was my introduction to the Pastoral (early 1980s), to Beethoven, and I would say to classical music more broadly

I am a Japanese old man. When I began to listen to classical music way back in1968, conducting Beethoven's symphonies was usually associated with Furtwängler's style. I could appreciate musical power, depth and dignity of his, but at the same time, his way sounded a little old-fashioned. Then one day I happened to listen to No4 on the radio. Paul Kletzki was the conductor. Instantaneously I liked him, for not only his way much more modern but also keeping the traditional style. Like René Leibowitz, Kletzki is not a famous conductor, but I am positive he is a first-rate one when it comes to Beethoven's symphonies.

sono un orchestrale italiano di 58 anni , lavoro in orchestra da quando ne avevo 14 e non ho finito ancora. La mia mamma aveva QUESTO LP, e la domenica si ascoltava .Posso dire che amo il mio mestiere per questo. Ma ho sempre saputo che il merito era di Beethoven e Paul Klezki , insieme a mia madre. Ah le mamme.....e i papà. La mia mi iscrisse ai corsi preparatori di teoria e solfeggio e di pianoforte, il papà comprava l'hifi, i dischi e le partiture mignon (Ricordi). Ancor prima di arrivare al primo corso di solfeggio sapevo seguire la partitura e, a mio modo, interpretarla. Di Kletzki avevamo l'op. 68 con l'orchestra dell'ORTF (ediz. Concert Hall).......
