The 8th symphony may be my favorite of LVB although it is so hard to narrow it down to one particular "favorite". I've always been delighted to know that LVB held it in high esteem as well. I can say that I prefer my Beethoven fast and crude, not lovely and slow!!

For me it's Nos.2 and 8 for pure excitement.

Citizen T Stravinsky is on record saying 8 is his favorite- 2 is like the precursor to 8 in a way- but the driving rhythms the forte syncopated chords in 8, nothing quite like it-
