Because this is one of the most incredible compositions ever made, a triumph at the end of a remarkable career of creation and innovation. Crammed full with intensity and hope, it is the greatest Hope of the most loving of us: "All Men Shall Be Brothers." The vile irony that Hitler so loved this symphony that he had it played on his birthday in front of a mass audience of ardent Nazis applauding the words and the experience, and then carrying on the next day with acts so brutal as to defy belief.

I am 80 years of age and have been a musician in my early life, but turned geologist for a profession. This performance of the 9th was the best I have ever heard and seen. My best to Gustavo, the choir, the bass drums, all of the strings were tremendous, as were the oboes, French horns and coronets, etc. and of course the all important lonely piccolo player. My best to all. MDC

I have viewed many iterations of this greatest of all symphonies, and I didn't know what to expect when I saw this youthful conductor approaching the podium ... but this has been an extraordinary performance. Every time one watches and listens carefully, one can "pick up" something new about the symphony, and this one was spectacular. Maestro Dudamel was clearly enjoying the proceedings as much as anyone. Very expressive. The soprano soloist was excellent -- she didn't sound like "the fat lady." Choir was spot-on. This symphony is really like a wake-up call. Notice the beginning of the 4th movement and the very intense instrumental interlude.

Deze uitvoering van Dudamel is niet één van de beste, maar -naar mijn mening- de BESTE uitvoering ooit. Let me start by saying that I am not musically trained. Dudamel knows how to forge the orchestra, the soloists and the choir into a unity and thus raise them to great heights. He was already then telling the entire world - don't let this Ode to Joy slip through your hands, wasting it, as if it can be easily regained. And he has "only" experienced Napoleon. Sleepers be aware. This piece of art is written in every language for all worlds anywhere to hear and to understand - and to apply by the book at any and all times. Never forget, always remember "Ode to Joy". Amen. Namaste. Thank you.
