Thank you all for the incredible support and positive feedback on our video! 🤍 It was a true honor for the entire Symphony Orchestra of Lienz to perform alongside the esteemed Rainer Küchl. Your appreciation inspires us to continue sharing our passion for music! 🎶
Che grande piacere riascoltare e riammirare il famoso primo violino dell' Orchestra viennese. Ricordo in gioventù di averlo visto persino nei panni di primo violino di spalla della Filarmonica della Scala evidentemente invitato nell'occasione.

It's so good to see Maestro Kuchl playing, I was just thinking of him the other day. When Solti and the VPO came to Toronto, my wife got me front row centre seat. For the enchore Solti announced Die Meistersinger and I jumped out of my seat to think I'm about to hear Solti/VPO do Wagner and Mesitersinger no less. Well it turned out to be Die Fledermaus and Kuchl leaned to the violinist to his left and quipped something. Probably "I thought he was coming for us !!) then laughed. I was embarrassed but to see this amazing ensemble do The Italian Symp and the Eroica is something I will never, ever forget. I never dreamed that I'd see Solti and the VPO someday.

Classic old school performance, humble yet of impeccable musicality, unlike what you get from every "soloist" nowadays

I think it would be advisable to visit a hearing doctor😊

@@juliandedu2578 You're right, and the entire VPO ought to have visited a hearing doctor during the 30 years they appointed him their concertmaster too

Hats off to his wonderful and comfortable and graceful performance Dreams concrived in childhood are as evanescent as the landscapes of dreams after awaking,our lifes are fleeting and short, less than 100 years. His wonderful performance is a breath of fresh air in this transient world in our life of so much hassle and annoyances

Rainer Kuchl's story has to be that of a child prodigy who more than fulfilled the promise of his youth. To become concertmaster at the VPO at 21 years and then to serve for 45 years is incredible. I did not have the chance to hear his solo performances live, but his beautifully restrained solo in Scherezade at the 2005 Salburg Festival was unforgettable. And here he is in later life still playing with that calm, measured, beautiful tone and metronome precision which I have always associated with his playing. Bravo! Thank you for the upload!

The concertmaster of the VPO when Kuchl was 21, early 1970s, was Gerhart Hetzel who served until he died in 1991. Kuchl took his place
@graceonaga30944 ай бұрын
@@villain7140 Thank you for bringing this up because I thought the same. Rainer Kuchl's own website says his concertmaster appointment was at a very young age, so my surmise is that the VPO has had more than one concertmaster, especially because they have so many engagements during the year. Gerhart Hetzel was superb, so I imagine Mr. Kuchl learned much from him.

@@graceonaga3094 That’s strange, I didn’t know that they ever had more than one concertmaster. All the videos I’ve seen of the VPO at that time with Bohm and Bernstein etc had Hetzel invariably at the concertmaster’s seat. They were both great nonetheless

where was the intonation at that time? had he stayed at home in Vienna?😊

@@villain7140No, the WP (and the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera from which it is drawn) always has several concertmasters. Küchl retired a few years ago at the mandatory retirement age of 65. Rainer Honeck became the most senior concertmaster at that point, having become one of the concertmasters in 1984. Volkhard Steude and Albena Danailova were the other two at the time of Küchl’s retirement. Danailova is the first woman to be WP concertmaster. When Hetzel suffered his tragic fall in 1992, Werner Hink was the next most senior concertmaster; he passed away recently. Walter Barylli is another long-time WP concertmaster who recently passed away, aged 100! I think Küchl was Willi Boskovsky’s replacement in 1971; Hetzel started in 1969, and Barylli stepped down in 1972. Boskovsky was famous for leading the New Year’s concerts from the podium on his violin from 1955 to 1979.

Amazing musicality and you can clearly hear that he had mastered his instrument. It's very beautiful but it's also a bit sad that his age is starting to become noticeable in his playing.

Lienz hat ein Sinfonieorchester? Endlich eine erfreuliche Nachricht aus Oesterreich !
This is a fine old fashioned performance. I think that the kids in the orchestra thoroughly enjoyed accompanying him.....what a privilege. All credit to the conductor who had to anticipate his subtle changes in tempo. Let's hear more of him with the same conductor conductor and orchestra.
