Just FYI, arrows do not point to exhaust! Arrows point same direction, to flywheel side. Piston pin is offset to avoid noise and excessive wear. And no rtv between heads and cylinders. It goes between cylinders and the engine case.

So stoked it's running again...so wished I had the garage and time to rebuild my motor.

Me too man! I've heard of some people actually rebuilding these engines in their kitchens haha just because they're so small

Where did you buy the new heads from ??

you need to get a fuel regulator Bud

hey man did you have fuel filters in between the carbs and fuel pump mine done that
@theshoplife95277 жыл бұрын
tony allred I had one filter after the pump and before the T for the carbs. It's actually a fire hazard to have one in the engine compartment though so I'd recommend against it

I shouldn't need to use rtv on any of the parts you put it on. It's cool to learn on a bug though. I did, and I made a lot of these same mistakes. There are a lot of good books to show you how to build these things. Good luck.

what was the problem with the dual carbs? was planning on getting one for my beetle as well
@theshoplife95278 жыл бұрын
Not sure if the problem is with the carbs or the fuel pump, but there was way too much fuel going into the carbs and the engine would just flood until it died. After the engine died, fuel would still keep coming in for about 30 seconds. I tried adjusting them numerous different ways and replaced the float in one of them (which had gone bad). From what I've read, some people have had better luck with electric fuel pumps with dual carbs. Someone was telling me that they actually need less fuel pressure, which doesn't really make sense to me but that could be the case

how big are the new cyclinders you're using? another question, would a stock cylinder from a 1600cc engine fit on a 1300cc case or no?

TheIslandIdiot they're 88mm. I don't know actually. Sorry just don't know much about anything other than a 1600.
