I realize you wrote this 3 years ago but I appreciate this comment I know am R rated judge who used to do this but would slam into the horses mouth(very sad). I used to do this with my tb she was a very hot horse this helped tune her to my aids. Eventually advanced to canter pirouettes(🥲) You'll see a lot of top show jumpers do this exercise. And yeah it's a shame I feel like jumpers and dressage can learn a lot from each other.

@@PinkPortraitDesu yes, its a true collecting exercise making horses supple but only few riders feel horses legs and its back under their butt while doing it maybe therefore they dont try .... ....smile

I'm not sure what I was supposed to be seeing in this video. I saw a young horse that was foaming at the bit and seemed to be wanting something from their rider. I'm not a rider nor have I owned a horse so please forgive my ignorance. Thank you.

Foaming is natural occurrence when horse is focused and moving athletically under the rider. Horse is rounding its back and carrying his and rider’s weight efficiently

The horse is fighting her a little The foam. This looks like it's in FL so horses sweat a lot and it does develop into foam if you've ever seen a horse gallop for a long time in a field you know this to be true. Isn't bad he isn't clamping down on the bit because bz remains flexible. This is a great exercise to develop a stop and go which you need in jumpers. Once he does what she asks he immediately knows he did well by her actions. In the begging he's being a little oppositional and partially could be because perhaps he doesn't know what she wants. (idk this horse may have been young at the time) but then what she's saying is because of that response she sets herself up better the next time to be more clearer and set the horse up for success. By the end the horse is doing the exercise nicely. This is a great way to tune them to respond without even jumping. She does a great job of being soft in her aids while still getting the job done.

Sounds like you need a good deal of equine education, then watch it again. THIS is a great rider.
