Tessie, I love you honey. But you keep changing. One day you are a prepper. One day you are not. Then you are back to being a prepper. One day you say you are a Homesteader, but next day you are not. You have a great deal of knowledge, but you seem very scattered sometimes But the world is a crazy and confused place. Guess we are all a bit scattered these days
@HomesteadTessie

it's simple I am everything I talk about homemaking it's everything it doesn't matter to be scattered we don't have to be one thing my channel is not one thing it's everything so if you're not into prepping then maybe there's another video that you may like same with homesteading same with cooking same with everything I throw out my videos out there to people who enjoy them and not everybody's going to enjoy every subject
@HomesteadTessie

As to the particular subject of prepping I think you can understand that things have really taken on a much different tone here in the world in the last few days and my husband and I decided that maybe we should start prepping a little more again I think that I am not the only one in thinking this but yes I shouldn't say I'm not going to do something anymore so from now on I would just say I'm going to do everything

Thank you so much my dear sweet friend I do understand your tone and I do understand what you're saying I tend to say I'm not going to do something any more and then you know what happens I tend to do it I could blame it on my menopausal brain but I've always been this way so from now on what I'm going to do is not say I'm going to do something i'm just going to do everything I think you can understand that but yes I totally understand what you were saying and there are no hard feelings sometimes it's hard to explain myself in the way that I wish

Being prepared for the future, whether it’s weather changes, political unrest, financial turmoil or whatever is wise. For most Americans this means it is time to learn basic skills that were common a few generations ago. Being prepared should not be based in fear though.

I am getting ready for whatever comes - - have never canned but will be doing that to in a effort not to fill my freezers any more than they are. It is just me and I'm 77, but my son, his wife, and my grandson live within a mile and one never knows what is around the corner. I do use clothes line - -in fact my son got me one of those umbrella types for my birthday. I am converting my 2 spare bedroom closets into pantries - shelving just arrived today.

@JB-pd4nl- Hello from New Hampshire! You are so right. Tessie is just reminding people to think ahead. I started prepping in earnest in March 2020. We have two farm properties and I prep for both. I have enough dry pantry for a good year at 2020 prices. We are all over 70 and still working our farm, but the weather can effect our hay and gardens.Grocery store supplies can dry up or cost too much. I saved so much money and given my family basic food security. We built our farm cottage to be both on or off-grid. Lots of power outages here , especially in winter. I am also in a position to help neighbors. I am currently preparing frozen meals for my sister as she is facing a surgery. So all sorts of reasons to prep. Yes our society is unstable in addition to people being out of work, injured or post surgical or just had a baby. Be prepared :-)

Good morning, Tessie. After a loss in my family on June 25, I've been struggling and pretty unmotivated. Now, though, it's time to get myself moving again. Much has changed in the last few days, and I agree that we need to be preparing-not out of fear but because it is wise to do so. Your focus on learning skills is excellent; we should be learning all we can. Like you said, growing the herbs is fantastic, but it's important to know how to use them, possible interactions, dangerous look-alike plants, etc. Great advice in this video. Have a wonderful day! 🌿

I recently read this article and thought it could be very valuable for a lot of people. "When a disaster happens, the normal services we rely on each day will be disrupted -- whether it's a wildfire, a flood or even an unexpected earthquake. A quick trip to the store for a few essential items may not be possible and is not a reliable option. Store supplies at home with the goal of being 2 weeks ready. While you’re working towards that goal, make smaller kits for your vehicle, work and wherever else you spend time." Water is super important. Make sure you have access to water in your emergency kit. 1 gallon per person per day is what is recommended. Also, If you take prescription medicine see if you can reorder a few days earlier each month so you will have some extra on hand. Or speak to your Dr about getting 1 additional month of your meds. They also have companies online that you can order a kit that will have the medicine you need in it, I am not sure what the name is though. You never know what type of disaster you could face and how long it will last. I am so grateful for channels like Tessie's that teach us old ways so we can be prepared for anything without all the scare tactics!

Good morning Tessie. I am going to defend your position. I own a business. I teach sustainability, how to live off the grid if necessary and prepping. I am also a working farmer's wife. So we see FARM to Table everyday. I feel successful when my students have their dry panty full, their canning shelves full, their freezers full and abundant kitchen gardens for fresh veggies and herbs. The size of their is storage is a personal choice. Tessie you are correct. It is time to do a bit of prepping. You are an excellent example of a suburban housewife who has taken on the challenge of providing long term nourishing foods for your family. Well done! I do not teach small farming and homesteading tips to my neighbors. They are all farmers. I support them and we buy what we do not raise from them. They buy our grass fed cattle and hay. I teach folks who are mostly suburban or " rural residential. Listen to Tessie. She got it right across the board. It has taken her about eight years of dedication.

I make yeast bread and can it. Just make the bread & let it rise, roll a piece of dough to fill a jar half way don't spray with oil, you just roll dough in flour & place in wide mouth jars. Oven bake till done and place hot lids on., It makes the most delicious bread and it stores up to 2 yrs. If the bread rises over the lip of jars cut it down. You have to put hot dry lids on immediately. I admire preppers and canners. Love your video's.
