Easier way to paint the stripes would be spray the stripes gold and then back mask to spray the silver. I always did it that way because it's faster/easier. Looks nice though! 👌
@McDonaldChromeShop2 жыл бұрын
if you watched the video of the paint i explained we were planning on a two color paint scheme but after we put the paint down but before we cleared it we decided it needed another color to look right. so we had to add the gold to it the hard way and add the gold at the end. i explain it all in the video where we did the paint.

the hood cowl was something we wanted to try on the 379 because we had never seen one done on a peterbilt, that being said until it was painted my brother and i were up in the air about using this hood. After paint we liked the way it looked and was different so we kept it. We knew there could be a lot of hate on it but to be honest when you do something that creates comments good or bad on your youtube channel it really helps youtube push your videos. that being said we hat much more love for the hood cowl than hate so in the long run it worked out. everyone likes something different so we try to do new things sometimes. thanks for watching

@@McDonaldChromeShop Yeah, it's weird. I think an arguement could be made for both quite frankly. It doesn't look bad or better either way really. It's one of those decisions/custom accessories that really just boils down too personal taste and the overall build in general.

I do all my trucks that way..KWs and Pete's. Try it...its a focus point peeps don't think about but ..its a little thing but adds a lot..im old school ..just think about it. Why wouldn’t you replace the center panel on the bunk instead of dicking around welding those mickey mouse patches in by the shock mounts?
@McDonaldChromeShop4 жыл бұрын
i had this same question on facebook and ill explain it here also. When rebuilding a trucks as a business there are many aspects you have to consider during the build. 1st what is the end price you need to be under to be able to sell the truck and still turn a profit or you are out of business. 2. what are the most important things that need done to a truck to make it as valuable as possible to the potential buyer, (motor work, drive train, tires, brakes, accessories, ect... 3. how to make it the highest quality product and stay true to the first 2 mentioned above. ect... so with that said time equals money in a shop, and if i remember correctly there was 120 hucks in this one center panel which you would need to take out all the interior of the bunk to get to then grind off each huck, then drill out each huck, then buy a new panel for around $500 then ship for around another $125 then measure and drill 120 new holes, then rehuck all 120 holes, then reinstall interior. so it saved about 2 full days work $2,500 plus the $625 vs about 4 hours total labor $500 to have the same end result both in structure and looks. Which saved $2,625, so that is why we did it this way. Also that is why we show how we build the trucks so anyone interested in buying a curtain truck from us can see how it was built if they have any questions.
