Sam, I can confirm that truck has been in that garage for along time. My buddy and I didn’t know it even existed until the auction and we are both from Elizabeth, in the trucking business and in our late 40s. We looked at it and I said either Matt or Sam will buy it, glad to see it’s going to a good home close to us. 👍

Mack was always my favorite! They are one of the oldest and their trucks were running around before Pete or Kenworth! The only company that was around before was Autocar! They were founded in 1897. Mack was 1900, Pete was 1939, and Kenworth was 1923.

What amazing condition that Mack is in! Obviously you can do what you want with it but being so nice and original, I kind of hope you decide to leave her as is. I mean you've got two trucks more than capable of moving whatever you'd want to. Also think that short wheelbase just looks kinda tough too! Regardless glad it's with someone who will take care of it. Nice score!

Having a short wheelbase truck around could be handy for tighter areas, and really fits in with the classic vocational truck look. (edit, didn't notice his comment about the turning radius until my second watch-through, d'oh)
@young11984
@young11984 Ай бұрын
First thing i would do is convert that axle mounted steering box to something with a much better turning radius if possible then the short wheel base would be handy, the way it is it turns in the same diameter as the red truck and a shorter wheel base lol

I've never herd that the Superliner was designed by Brockway before, but it surely is the same "Mack type" cab that was used the last few years on brockway conventionals. Corse Brockway was owned by Mack motors since sometime in the 1950's anyway. I noticed the cab being the same as the last Brockways back when the superliner 1st came out. Funny the GMC General arrived looking along the same lines but didn't go on long like the Mack Superliner did. Really enjoyed the video! Great seeing that iron still being appreciated!

I always respected Mack for making their own drivetrain components, designed to work together. A more powerful, easier to drive and efficient truck that needed near half the # of gears for the transmission; less shifting and wider power band Mack engine. Brockway was usually Mack cab with other makers drivetrain components; same way the other makers made their trucks.

I used to work at a Mack dealer. if your truck has a double frame we would cut off about 3 feet of the outter frame weld a piece on the end of the inner frame. grind it smooth then weld an piece of the outter frame over lapping the weld on the inner frame. then remove the bolts on the trunnion slide it back to where the front hole line up with the rear holes if that give you enough lenth drill and ream holes and get body bound bolts from your dealer

The ATCA puts on the show in Macungie each year in June and you should bring the Superliner to the show. Last year they turned out over 1000 trucks so there is something to see and enjoy for everyone. What's up with the A model? I own a 52 Type 75A fire truck with the ENF510A engine.

Hi Sam Gideon here from South Africa You stumbled upon a real gem here. One always wants to keep it as original as possible, but we do have to keep in mind the original owner might have ordered it to a certain specification. If that spec doesn't suit your application perfectly, I see nothing wrong with alterations. Provided one does a proper and perfect job with original parts, that will still represent factory standards afterwards. For example the lube refiner filter. Nothing wrong if you move it to a better location in order to do a clean replacement when necessary. I'd definitely stretch that chassis, 75inches stretch seem to be what I'd go for. Or make it the same wheelbase as the SL2. Not only will it be so much more usable with a better ride, it will look so much better. Not being disrespectful, it looks more like a pony now than a full size horse! In my honest opinion there's only pros and no cons in stretching it. But I'm not fond of a tag or pusher axle. Just doesn't look right anymore. That Daytons may be era correct, but I don't like them. I'd change all six hubs to hub centers. With a nice set of Alcoa's. That's my humble contribution. Thanks for sharing, really like your channel!
