As a newbie to horse hooves as of today, I was so confused and a bit worried for the horse! But I went researching and I can say that this is a pain free process, similar to getting our nails trimmed or done. Working horses need to horseshoes to protect their hooves from wear and tear and potential damage from different terrain. Horseshoes also need to be replaced now and then because their hooves, expand and contract. Also horses can grow out of their old shoes over time, so replacing them makes sure walking doesn't become painful.

I’m glad you research it and not assume it.

@@BK-ut3wc dude wth? I made my comment with the intent to educate people who didn't know anything about horses, including myself. It takes my farrier about 45 minutes per horse to trim my horses' feet. There's a LOT that goes on behind the scenes with this video. If the farrier is well-experienced and takes their time, this is a pain-free operation unless the horse has some other health issue such as severe arthritis or corns (yes, horses can get corns just like we do). Farriers go through quite a bit of training plus a lengthy apprenticeship to get to this guy's level of skill.
