She's a high mileage ol girl like mine. I have about 20k on you though. I did just have to replace the head gaskets so I chose to pull the engine and replace piston rings and main bearings and rear main seal. It woke my truck up a lot. Mine is 100% stock btw. 👍🇺🇲

The different converter isn’t going to do anything to prolong the lift of the transmission but the servo definitely will.

Fresh transmission fluid, and a fresh transmission fluid filter is always a good idea if it has been a long time since it has been done. Never have it flushed though.

I HAVE A VIDEO HERE ON THE CHANNEL OF THE INSTALLATION! Push in on the center of it with something while inserting the snap ring. Get a buddy to help you if you need an extra set of hand, or use something long enough to apply press with your leg and free up both hands.

I got a 1996 K1500 6in lift with "36 tires and 16" rims its a beauty but even when in 4H itll stuggle to go over shit unless you pin that 350 to around 1800-2000RPM it feels a little like it doest got enough umph for those tires atleast with 3.73 gears but the corvette survo might help with better apply pressure but in all honesty i think it just needs a modest 383 😂 then the sob will pull like a damn elephant 🐘

A Corvette Servo is always a great mod. You do need more gearing 4.10’s atleast and more hp would help as you mentioned.

It is all stock. It is common that they go out and dim with age. You might need a new one.

Don't replace it. Pull the display out. Open it up and you will find 4-5 surface mount resistors lose from the board. As they heat up they flex and break the solder. Just solder them back on and you're good. Took me 10 minutes to solder mine back. Took longer to remove the cluster.

Try slamming it from idle in third, then when you get past 40, shift to drive. much faster than drive only. I have the same trans and servo too. 4.3l vortec

Hi, fellow Texan here: west Houston. My local installer keeps telling me the 4L60E has a rpm limit of 5500. Does this servo hold the shifts beyond that limit? For the rebuild on my 1998 C1500 5.7 daily driver, I got the one step down from the Sonnax Corvette servo .74 ratio, which is part number 77701-02K at .63. From what I know, the .63 is what GM used in the 4L70E. I have about 22 other Sonnax upgraded parts on hand for this, so do you have any words of wisdom from this swap you could share? @jaywestfall3439 thanks for watching. I have never heard of the 4l60 transmission having a 5,500rpm limit. I had this truck shifting at 6,000rpm at wot with this servo. If it was cammed, then that shift point would be even higher.

I'm looking at this mod paired with Transgo shift kit and some fresh solenoids. Do you have any experience or recommendations with the kit? My tranny gets stuck in 3rd or 4th every now and then. Usualy only on a hot day and when idling alot. I can usualy manually shift down into first but it hangs then slams a bit. 333k on the truck, trans had probably never been serviced. Im not a pro but ive read this is just a servo issue. I figure while im in there, I may as well do the kit and the servo

Definitely do the Corvette servo (link is in the video description). TransGo HD2 is a good shift kit but don’t go with the harshest shift settings. It is a good idea to change the transmission fluid and filter but DO NOT FLUSH it.

I have a 96 GMC Sierra with 4l60e I just had my transmission rebuilt at 544, miles. When I got my truck back 2nd gear was slamming. Took the truck back and they put the Corvette Servo in. 2nd gear cleaned up but 3rd gear is taking too long to go into gear when getting on the highway, getting up speed after leaving a red light. Transmission guy says nothing is wrong with it. My heart just sank. Any suggestions?

Well, if 3rd gear is taking too long then it would seem that whoever rebuilt it should stand behind their work.

I agree. However he says people pay good money to have it shift like it is. I said I don't want or like it shifting like it is. I was told by a mutual friend of the mechanic dog the piss out of it burn it up! Make him do it right

Yes it is definitely firmer shifts because you can hear it. It sounds like a b&m tow and go shift kit ( stage one! I have a Holden commodore ecotec v6 with a 4L60E transmission and I have done some performance mods in which after my larger TB, i had the ECU remap by an aussie engineering company that specialises in performance bolt on parts for GM and Ford mostly. My tranny is firmer shifts and much more responsive but now i need that servo. Im happy i came across your video!!! I can hear the difference without looking at the screen. Can i jack up the car and replace that way because I have acres of room to do it ? I don't know if its going to jump out and knock me out? Lol Do you not understand that they are even, and not one worse than the other? Do you not understand the purpose of the Corvette Servo? Your transmission is much much better off and will last longer with a Corvette servo because your stock servo doesn’t apply enough pressure to the clutches and causes additional wear and slip compared to the Corvette servo.

@@robpaul7900 no, I don’t stay in 1st and 2nd most of the time. When I am accelerating harder than usual then it can take up to 55mph for it to shift out of 2nd. Normal driving will have me in 4th gear before 55mph even comes.

@@robpaul7900 The Corvette Servo install is pretty straightforward. Just get a screw driver or a pick behind the snap ring and work it out. I haven’t heard of cases cracking.
