Our city loop train stations still have old Otis escalators Melbourne Central Flagstaff and Parliament but they’re maintained by elevator tech they’re not maintained by Otis any more

In my 40 year career...I had (4) of these in that same vintage. I had suggested for many years these either be upgraded or removed. A year after I retired they removed them and built steps...LOL They had (3) elevators that served those floors.... they gambled with safety of the public to save money. They were totally worn out 10 years prior, Of all things I worked on.... escalators scared me the most.... basically...meat grinders!....

Yeah by they already had stairs before. But it appears they needed to rebuild the stairs to install the elevator.

As disappointing as it is to see those escalators go bye-bye, at least the elevator has a decent motor. It isn't the best, but it's better than them sticking to some generic crap elevator.
