I had the same op as the first gentleman in 2016 done by dr perchinsky and the treatment by him and the staff there was outstanding. I was home 6 days later and back to work six weeks after. We are so lucky to have this excellent heart centre in Victoria.

I went 27 years on my first Ross Procedure, and I'm 6 days away from my next one. The biggest issue was getting back to sleep after the heart/lung machine wrecked my bodily rhythms. If you have this problem just get a clock that ticks next to your bedside . Literally saved my life.

I've had an open heart Ross Procedure and I'm about to do it again in 6 days. I had no real pain from my chest area afterwards except come mild discomfort. I stopped taking painkillers after I go hoe as I realized I didn't need them. I'm getting my third and 4th new valves on Wednesday the 15th!

I don't want to scare anyone and maybe my experience was different than yours. But I had uncontrolled pain after waking up from a triple bypass open heart surgery. Maybe it's because I also had a collapsed lung and an additional to the size of a cigar coming out of my chest. But I thought they did a sorry-ass job controlling my pain. It was so bad that suicide went through my mind and I have never thought of that in my life. I let them know all about it at my first post-op appointment. So if you have a high tolerance to pain medicine make sure they're aware of that and they treat you adequately

2/16/23 I just went through this with a cabbage operation, the video was very right on, and it answered a lot of questions that went through my mind before and after the surgery. I am now at the Cardio stage and back to regular exercising at the gym, being careful what exercise sI do on my upper body, so I can get back to normal.

Thank you for the video. I do wish there was more representation of younger heart patients. I had OHS at 24. None of the resources from my hospital included patients of my age. It would just be nice to see

I am 13 days out of the modified Bentall procedure with the konect bovine tissue valve. Was in great shape when I went in with minimal damage and classified as Stage C: A Symptomatic. I am 60 years old and made the decision to have surgery one year after the diagnosis of severe aorta valve stenosis. Took me that long to get my nerve up. I was working, and I felt great, what the heck? Third opinion I said let's do it because I didn't want the recovery to be ridiculously long and/or my heart to be irreversibly damaged by my own hand because of my cowardness. The first week out of general anesthesia is NO JOKE and it does hurt. I've been home for three days and begin warfarin tomorrow evening for three months. Feeling very good. Surgery is not the problem it is the solution. 02/28/24

If you have phlegm or mucus problem in the lungs and want to cough, what about having some kind of cup to spit into. I haven't had surgery yet, and had a problem with this and found by having a cup to spit into made it easier to go to sleep without having to get up all the time and go to the washroom in order to spit out.
@eileenwatt8283 Жыл бұрын
The hospital gives you a kidney spit basin. If you didn't get one it's probably done so you have to walk. The patient is supposed to get out of bed to prevent blood clots. You can ask someone for a cup.

BS on the after surgery meds. You need to get with the program on cholesterol, statins and diet. There are too many negative side effects from the "meds" the health care industry expects us to tolerate or ignore. Sugar is the enemy, not cholesterol.
