I think the question is everyone is asking themselves is would you choose this (or any german rival) for $36k or a Tesla Model 3? People are definitely cross shopping. Very nice chase shots.
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup 4 жыл бұрын
I'm personally not a Tesla person surprisingly Chris Harris's review on the P100D is actually very close to my thoughts on Tesla and how it felt out on the road. But because he's British he is very good at articulating himself unlike me. I do believe there is a sense of solidity this car offers even over the German rivals. Audi and BMW might be the superior machine but I do like this as a package. Again this car is def not perfect. Thanks again B roll in this was supplied by Genesis USA

G70 Owner here.. Good review for sure. I have the 3.3T and yep, it's thirsty! I agree with 95% of your review except the suspension piece. Albert Biermann tuned this suspension to strike a balance between sport and comfort and almost every reviewer praises it over the BMWs. There is a review video of the G70 suspension and it's very well designed. The G80 is pure comfort. I've never owned a BMW but certainly like them! I also assumed the Stinger had the same level of quality but it appears that's not the case...but I do really like the look of the Stinger. I'm a big fan of the G70 and after 1.5 years of ownership that's not faded.

Thank you for that awesome response super happy you are loving your G70. Yea I'm definitely aware of Albert Biermanns influence on the company he def did magic with certain cars. Just glad the G70 has proved to being a satisfying ownership experience I also really like the look compared to the G80. Enjoy my friend

Very good and underrated car. I test drove in June. I fell in love instantly!!! Been wanting a Genesis for so long while. Love the weight of the steering!!! I rented a BMW 330i and it feels lighter and is less user friendly. Had to figure out where everything was. My Henny does the job for Me!!!

Very good review! I don't know if I prefer the styling of this car to its rivals, but it definitely makes me look twice when I see one on the road. The G70 is a very driver-focused car with easy-to-use features-I feel like that could appeal to a lot of people. Oh yeah, and the buttons for the back seat passengers must've been deemed necessary due to the minimal rear legroom.

Really appreciate your review. I'm a new owner of a Genesis G70 and I was bummed that I didn't get the 6 cylinder but seeing reviews like yours makes me feel better. The one thing I do have issue with is the leg room in the back seat or rather lack of. I'm 6'3" and my wife is 5'10" and there is no room for anyone in the back. Overall I'm enjoying the car. I think its an Excellent car and Genesis has made huge strides. The Problem is lack of dealer support networks. They have a HUGE problems with getting dealers for this brand and getting dealers who actually know what the are doing. Between that, the huge depreciation and the potential to have to wait for a couple of weeks for parts from Korea is the main reason I bought a 2020 Lexus E350 Ultra Luxury instead. BTW I was looking in getting the G80, not the G70 but the refreshed G80 won't be out until at least the end of the year.

What an excellent and timely review! I really like my G70 with stick shift. But I swear the Germans do something with their BMWs that makes you emotionally connect with them. I rented a 440i Gran Coupe last summer. I loved it! There was the solid feel. There was the tasteful, understated dashboard. There was the looks that my friends gave me when I pulled into their driveway. They couldn't take their eyes off of it! The G70 on the other hand drives just as well as the 440i, handles just as confidently. I threw that G70 as hard as I can around the corners at the Tail of the Dragon. I gave it all I've got and it never flinched or understeered. The stick feels just like the Porsche 911 from 2007. It's fine. (The stick and the clutch in Honda Accord is better than G70 or BMW E46.) The clutch action in G70 is not the best, got a weird hump in the travel. It's not a deal killer. Not sure why reviewers rag on the G70 stick. These self-styled reviewers are full of it. How can EVERY stick shift have "too long a throw?" Do they know what a long throw is? Anyway, the G70 is good. It is an excellent or a very good car in every way. But as far as connecting with the machine at a deep, intangible level, it is BMW all the way for me.
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for clarifying the stick situation in the G70 always great to hear from legitimate owners I really appreciate this comment. Yea I personally haven't driven the stick but you're right the way these reviewers ragged on it, I thought it was horrible but I should know by now to listen to some of these reviewers as that's why I started this channel in the first place due to the nonsense that's out there. Yea Bimmers are cool I def do like some of them thank you again for stopping by

@@MeynMotorGroup I have or am considering many makes and models, looking for the fight feel and fit. All Manual and Manual Only... BMW 230i, Civic SI, Mustang 2.3L ecoboost, Genesis G70, Kia Forte GT, Hyundai Veloster R spec or N, Mazda3 h/b premium, etc... I like the VW GTI but similar to the BMW , I am just afraid of long term ownership as I have never owned either brand and so many negative reviews from owners about the maintenance and upkeep cost and plastic components that crack or break. My wife has a 2012 Hyundai Genesis sedan with the 3.8L motor. It has been a fantastic car that rides great, has plenty of power and actually gets good fuel mileage (23.5 rural city - up to 29 hwy depending on driven speed) for us.

Oh yea I made a video on why I sold it and Kia was legitimately pissed. Idc I have to say the truth and let people know my honest thoughts. G70 Stinger and new K900 are derived from the G80 platform. The G80 was a truly well engineered vehicle even tho it wasnt labeled as a "sports sedan" and it's not its luxury but it has a proper double wishbone suspension tuned by Lotus. The chassis was perfect and it had the ride and handling perfectly tuned for street driving. The other 3 cars use a cheaper strut front suspension. Chassis isn't as solid. G70 out of the Stinger and K900 is a bit more legit and you would be happy with the G70 I believe. If you're ok with leasing look into the BMW 3 series or 4 series

I've been following for awhile and I appreciate your videos. I had a Honda accord v6 which i changed to a Lexus RC F and shortly 5 months later i'm sitting in a KIA Stinger GT1 AWD. I can say I do miss the sportiness of the RCF and it's beautiful v8 sound but I needed the practicality. The stinger is more sloppy in their suspension and I think a lowering spring will help. The G70 was one of my choices but I wanted the space and the new 2020 Stinger seem to have resolve some quality issue.

Thank you David I do remember you thank you for all the support over the course of this channel. Man that RC F is sick glad you got to experience that vehicle. LC 500 is my dream car but that things is pricey $$. Yea I definitely get the practicality reasons that was a huge selling factor for me. My biggest problem at that time was I was giving too much credit to big name journalists and not having enough confidence in my own assessment in cars. I wasn't the biggest fan even when I first drove it but when all these "credible" reviewers praised it like crazy I thought who was I to go against that praise and thought I may grow to like it but I was correct I disliked it the more I owned it. Not saying it's a bad vehicle but you gotta simply appreciate it for being a fast hauler I guess. I had my doubts about the G70 but it wasn't bad I thought it was a legit product at least. I am in total disagreement with your comments on the manual transmission. I have this car in a stick (2019) and as a well experienced driver of manual transmission vehicles most all my life this is a wonderful option and PREFERRED way to enjoy this car and I say this with confidence having had many of the BMW models in a stick. I think you are still very young and inexperienced and guessing you do not know much about the three pedal performance so no need to get into it. Sad fact Americans are lazy and want no more than instant gratification in life including boring automatics that dazzle with their "numbers" but sadly missing the point. I feel those who read my comments here are like thinkers know these modern sport sedans in auto are dull and dreary especially the one you are reviewing at a premium cost and deliver mediocre performance. The Europeans can't all be wrong.

One more thing: Nothing that I have driven beats the steering feel of an E46 BMW. All these newer cars (G70, 440i) feel too "frictionless" with artificial resistance thrown in (like some sophisticated arcade game.) With the E46, you feel like the car is a living, breathing extension of your body. The steering feels like there is a muscular arm by the steering rack that reads your mind and pushes the tie rods each way just right. No modern (post-2005) car duplicates that hydraulic feel. And it's not just hydraulic vs electronic steering. My 2010 Accord is hydraulic, but it has that soulless arcade feel.
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup 4 жыл бұрын
Yes many of the cars today utilize the electric steering for what it is I don't mind it but yea you're absolutely right about the older cars with their hydraulic racks really telepathic the way they steer. This is exactly what I talked about in the newest review I released of the LS500 vs LS400 from 1994.

I've looked at and driven these. Very small car, lots of turbo lag and hated the interior. The tacked on info-tainment screen and the seats that look like they came from a 50's Tijuana interior shop just look tacky. Yeah, Bentley re-kick started the quilted seat craze again, but they look tacky in a Bentley too. Disappointing car overall. I am currently driving a Hyundai Azera w 293hp V6 (no turbo/no lag) which is still quicker and more comfortable than this car. I found the Alfa Giulia 2.0T to be the ultimate sports sedan but couldn't get past doing "the crab walk" just to get in and out of that car. Back to the drawing board.
