That one level that reminded you of something but you couldn't figure out? It was clearly a riff on the opening level of Daikatana - *SO OBVIOUS* 😄 Seriously though, fantastic stuff! I love seeing a retro game creator take a look at packs like this! There's so many underground random gems and oddities to find for retro titles like this, and so few who are actively plumbing the depths. Keep up the great work! This is all fascinating and enetertaining!

of course, how did I not see it. its so obvious with hindsight 🤣 I do enjoy looking at these add-on packs and the shareware CD's with random and interesting games. as you never know what you are going to find, and typically you come away with a level or a game that is great that you never knew about.

Some cool stuff there. I really liked the one with the trains! The explosions one reminded me of Red Faction. And the spinning thing in the fun house must have been tricky to code too. Marvellous!

Loved watching this. Great video and you covered this really well. You've reminded me I've got boxed Kill-a-ton edition on my shelf waiting to be installed and played lol. Friggin love Duke3D :D

Thanks, I had a lot of fun playing this pack, and wow! that Kill-a-ton version is nice looking!

Somebody finally made this video! There is so many Duke levels that I never got to play Duke Zone 2, but I always found it interesting that expansions like this were released back then. Enjoyed watching it! Duke It´s Zero Hour is also interesting. Have to play it one day. Currently I do play Alien Armageddon. It´s an amazing mod for Duke.

Nice video, always wondered what DukeZone2 was about. I seem to recall a version of it being sold with the actual game at one point... or maybe my memory is playing tricks on me there.

the E1M1 styled map was obviously ran through the wad2build utility that I think is either on the Duke Nukem 3D registered cd itself or with the level design handbooks CD and they used the tutorial in the book to "dn3d" it up. I did that to several Doom and Doom II maps but largely as practice while I was learning build, I made alot of levels in that time, dunno if they ever made it on dukezone (I hope not) I did upload a few them to a now long dead duke level site.

Nice one! great vid as always Mr Fish. Never played these levels, but I do recall the Ice Gun in Duke3D itself, but I hardly ever used it. The question is: Duke 3D or Blood?.
@GouldFishOnGames8 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! By the time I got a copy of Duke it was the Atomic edition so I can never remember what was in the original vs the updated version. and even then I played that shareware version so much which was limited in the guns! That is skews things even more 😁 But I have to say I enjoy Duke more then Blood, I get how much more varied they made the levels and how many crazy things they did with the engine. but I'm not a fan of the weapons or the baddies.

@@GouldFishOnGames the freeze thrower was in DN3D from the start, the recent "world tour" edition was when a flamethrower was added.

I don’t know Duke!Zone 2? I must have moved on to other games by then? Got to say though from what you’ve shown & said it looks like a decent extension to the game & I guess if you’ve played through the full game & Duke!Zone 1 you’d be looking for something challenging, explaining the difficulty? Still I can’t help feeling cheats may be necessary at points? I love the way in movies/TV & games you can fall from any hight & as long as you land in water you’re fine. Jumping in to water from 100 feet you have just a 5% chance of surviving. A man who survived a jump from a cruise ship at that hight survived but caused permanent damage to his neck & coccyx. From any higher & it’s essentially like hitting concrete. Interesting video, thanks. As I go back to Duke 3D quite often I’ll add it to my available options.

Water and hay, the 2 main equalizers when it comes to large jumps and falls 😊 I missed this pack back in the day, I think because of the name. I just expected it to be more user made levels rather then 3 new chapters, I think this would have done much better with its own name,

I liked at least some of the levels. E1M3 in particular captures a lot of what's fun about Hollywood Holocaust. But I also remember having to make a seperate copy of my Duke3d folder to put this in, because of how prone to crashing and buggy the whole thing was. It was a pain just to have it run properly.
@GouldFishOnGames8 ай бұрын
Yeah a few of the levels really got that Duke look and feel. I never really played the original release, but it doesn't surprise me that it was buggy. its not often you see fan fixes for an add-on pack, unless they really need them!

15:48 omg I remember this one in particular! I found it on a CD given for free on a PC gaming magazine. You mean to tell me people paid to play that map?
@GouldFishOnGames8 ай бұрын
Its more they paid to get 500 maps (in the case of Duke!Zone, or 521 in Duke!Zone 2) and that was just one of the maps on the CD. They were typically quite cheap and good if you didn't have access (or slow access) to the internet.

@@GouldFishOnGames hence why that remake of E1M1 was on a CD from The Games Machine (a former italian magazine, I scored the infamous patch for SiN through them for the same reason: slow dial-up)
