I remember the days when you could go over the border without a passport. Mexico is very dear near my heart. I grew up closer to the border. So in my life I have spent a lot of time there.

I’ve always loved the Mexican ‘vibe’. So laid back. Yes, I remember ‘the good old days’ when we didn’t need passports to travel throughout North America! Take care, Mrs. M!

An American citizen doest need a passport to cross into Mexico. At most the police at the border. Will charge you a bribe of 40 bucks. But this normally only happens at a major border crossing, like Tijuana. But Los Algadones doest do this. Because the entire cities economy. Runs 100% off of medical tourism. And no U.S. citizen can be refused entry back into America. Even without a passport

Pre 9/11 All you needed to present was ID/DL You could also bring back pharmacy medications and 2 bottles of tequila per person. There was less of a hasle with returning pets. As long as you showed a vaccination rabbis shots paperwork.

When we cross from the US to Mexico at Los Algodones, the border 'guard' just smiles. Nothing required to enter Mexico at this point. As A CANADIAN, I (we) do need a passport.
@HoneyandMe Жыл бұрын
Yes, 9/11 changed a lot of things. Even for us Canadians crossing the northern border into the US, we did not require a passport. Now, we need one to enter the US and it makes it much quicker to get back into Canada with one.

We brought our own water, but did see lots of ‘vendors’ selling bottled water. I can’t comment on the quality of the bottled water there though, as we did not try it. I’d stick to the safe side and BYOW. But maybe someone else who has tried the bottled Mexican water will see this and give their verdict!👍

That certainly was a big bottle of vanilla. At my age a lifetime supply could fit in an 3 ounce bottle. The vendors are used to being turned down so you won't be causing mental anguish if you say no. I've seen KZbin videos where people claim they were able to reenter with only their driver's license if they forgot their passport, but that probably wouldn't be my luck.😊❤❤❤
@HoneyandMe Жыл бұрын
Yes! It's a huge bottle! If you are an American citizen, you probably can make it back into the US with proof of identification. But a passport is the quickest. Me, as a Canadian need a passport. Being cocky and expecting to be allowed to cross an international border without a passport is both risky and arrogant. But I guess some people like to live life on the edge😁
@rockyroad-hq7hz Жыл бұрын
In the surrounding states to the border. If you get a real ID/DL. Which they also call a universal ID. Which can't be duplicated. The one's with the water mark and haligrams. They also work when boarding flights TSA. I think those are the valid ones, you could present at border crossing.

As a Canadian, we do need a passport to cross from Mexico into the US. It is a lot less hassle to have a passport for crossing back into Canada as well. Like the US, they cn't refuse you entry, but they do expect you to have documents to prove you live in Canada. I think it's just better to have the proper papers and avoid the hassle.
@mindiwilles66492 жыл бұрын
3:08 I’ve been told you can cross back with a drivers license.
@HoneyandMe2 жыл бұрын
Hi! From my research I found that either a passport, good for crossing all international borders or a passport card is required for US citizens to re-enter the US when leaving Mexico by land. The passport card looks like a driver’s license and allows Americans to cross into Mexico, Canada, Bermuda and Caribbean countries, but not international borders. I have read you might be ok with just a regular driver’s license, but it drastically slows down your crossing time and really annoys all those waiting in line behind you😆

If you are an American citizen, there are a few states that issue enhance driver's licenses. Michigan Minnesota New York Vermont Washington Enhanced Drivers Licenses (EDLs) are state-issued enhanced drivers licenses that provide proof of identity and U.S. citizenship when crossing the U.S. border in a vehicle. They are issued in a secure process, and include technology that makes travel easier. You must be a resident of one of these states to be able to apply for one. You apply for them at the DMV office. Hope this helps!

As far as I know, yes. I had my prescription from my Canadian doctor. I presented it to the purple pharmacy and was given a price. We found that with my husband's extended medical that it was no savings for us, so we didn't end up getting it filled. But it was interesting.

@HoneyandMe2 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for your input. As a Canadian, I do need a passport to get back in to the US from Mexico. From what I've read, U.S. citizens need a passport, passport card, enhanced driver’s license, or other approved document. I wouldn't personally risk going over without one of these. Check this website for more info-www.visityuma.com/plan-your-trip/going-to-mexico/

@@HoneyandMe no US citizen needs a passport to return to America. Just like a Canadian citizen cant be denied returning to Canada, without a passport. And Mexico doesn't care if you have a passport entering their country. Especially at a crossing like los Algadones. Because their economy runs 100% off of medical tourism

Hey Richard! Not being an American citizen I can only go by the research I have done. My question would be, if you are an American wanting to cross back into the US from Los Algodones without a passport or one of the other identification documents they say is required....how do they know you are American?? For Canadians who want to cross the border back into Canada without a passport they need to have some document that shows they are a Canadian citizen. There are a number of them that can be used, but you have to have something to prove you are who you say you are and that you are a citizen.

Do I really need a passport? Can't I show ID and birth certificate?
@HoneyandMe2 жыл бұрын
Hi! From my research, it’s either a passport or an enhanced driver’s license, also known as a passport card. The difference is the passport card cannot be used for international air travel, only for land border crossings. That means Canada, Mexico, The Caribbean and Bermuda only. They are a lot cheaper to get though. I believe the birth certificate/ID use was stopped in 2008. If you find different information, I’d love to hear about it. As a Canadian, I have a passport to enter the US anyways, so it wasn’t an issue going to Mexico as well.

Haha I don't have either of those things so guess I won't go. Didn't really have plans to anyway. You know some of those things apply to the US. Don't leave your bags laying around. Don't know how many purses I could have run off with in Walmart because women leave them in the cart and turn their backs. It's crazy. Yeah I don't like sales people. They get on my nerves. This definitely isn't for me. Real vanilla is good. I got some a little while back. So much better than flavored junk. Wow that's a big jar of vanilla. That would last me forever.

I’ve noticed how many people leave purses unattended in shopping carts too. One salesperson suggested clipping them into the baby seat with the seatbelt. I’ve done that ever since! Thanks for watching!❤️
