• Closing thoughts:
o In-hand/Ergonomics - Super compact, only a little larger than a deck of playing cards
 Nice heft gives off solid/quality feel in hand
o In-transit/Packability - Super compact, although larger than a dedicated point-and-shoot, it’s still pocketable enough for a jacket pocket
o Model variants - The older LX100 (MK1) is also available at a lower spec and lower price point in the used market
o Comparable options - In terms of cameras still available new, the Leica D-LUX 8 and Fujifilm X100VI, are popular models that are around $1500 but backordered everywhere and normally selling at a premium for in-stock finds
 Yes, you could drop down in price to cameras like the Sony RX100 VII or Ricoh GR III in the lower $1000 range but even those models are often sold out and backordered
o Bottom-line - Much like wristwatches becoming more and more desirable again for dedicated time telling, dedicated cameras for videos and stills are also becoming more and more popular for a more deliberate and inspired experience
 The LX100 II is a bit of a cult classic at this point for its near premium build and construction, combined with a larger sensor than most any phone or action cam, add to that having fast Leica glass at a contained cost, thanks to non-interchangeable lenes makes for a great EDC option that offers engaging manual controls as well as clean out-of-camera JPEGs and crispy 4K video

Much like with watches, when you have a smart phone you don't need a "real watch" and "real camera". But, we really like and want them. At least I do. The tactile and aesthetically pleasing experiences of having a watch on wrist and a camera in hands can't be truly replicated nor substituted by a smart phone.

I have a pretty old smartphone (iPhone mini 12) but I really like the form factor and the only upgrade I care about is the camera. I recently took my ancient fujifilm x100 on a trip after leaving it in a shelf for years and loved taking photos with a real camera, the only issue is that the x100 is pretty bulky so I’d love to look into something more pocketable like the Ricoh or maybe the LUMIX/Leica.

Really cool, great video. But I''ll keep carrying the Ricoh because it's the easiest to slide in and out of pocket.
