Hey Silver Dragons I live in Ontario Canada I go through my bank, they have an online site and the transactions are very smooth, I put whatever I’d like in my cart and it comes right out of my account. 4-5 business days later I pick it up at the local post office. Rounds, bars, coins from around the world. Silver platinum and gold options. Working on my first hundred ounces currently and without great videos from channels like yours and Yankees I wouldn’t have been able to save this amount up in fiat currency. Thanks for all the videos. Very convenient and comparable to to the price at the coin shops.

@bamahama707 valid. I remember back in 2013 when I had started stacking hard, I felt the same way. I realized quickly how my feelings weren't important as spot price continued to do what it does. I briefly stepped out due to financial hardship, all the while watching spot price. In the latter end of 2023 I've jumped back in. Got 10oz for spot through apmex, and overpaid on 5oz of Perth goodies. I tend to stack in 2 catagories. There's generic .999/90% junk, and premium/collection pieces. One half of my stack is more of a collection, while the other half is liquid. Not easy to spend, but liquid.

I was concerned about getting fakes, but did the magnet, weight, caliper tests and they seem real. After watching more you tube videos like this, I'm moving back to online buying from trusted bullion dealers and doing a lot more comparison on premiums. Facebook groups are the best way to buy silver. You can comment on a sales post and ask for references, I have purchased a total of 65 oz of silver from Facebook groups and never got scammed. You don't have to pay sales tax, plus you can sell your silver on the groups for a higher price then a shop would give you, since shops normally only give you spot or under. You can sell silver for a premium in groups.

I mostly agree but I do have a couple of minor critiques: 1) I don't see the value in rounds. If SHTF then you want gov minted coins or if you're going generic, then bars are better value 2) I watched your video on the Top 5 coins of 2023 and I agree completely, especially your number 1 ranked coin - Britannias - although I would recommend Type I (QE II, 2023) as these coins are fetching a slightly higher premium than the Type II (KCIII, 2023) from the majority of major UK sellers. I guess people prefer QEII to KCIII which is 100% understandable. So if you find Type I at the same price as Type II, then QEII is the way to go 3) You said in the top 5 coins video that post-2018 Maple Leafs don't milk spot. That isn't true. They do milk spot. The MINTSHIELD tech just delays the process relative to other coins so they will stay milk spot free for longer. I personally love Maple Leafs but being in the UK it would be stupid for me to buy them as they attract CGT whereas Britannias are CGT-free and also they are legal tender. In the USA you pay CGT on all silver so you have more choices in that regard. The Eagles would be the best buy but as you pointed out, the premiums are stupid relative to Maples and Britannias In summary in the USA you should stack these 4 coins IMHO - 1) Type I Britannias 2) Maple Leafs post-2018, 3) Kangaroos, 4) Eagles, and you should run a ratio of maybe 50% Britannias, 25% Maples, 15% Roos and 10% Eagles. To add to your stack for weight the best option is 10oz bars. Yes, the bigger you buy the lower the premium but for full circle buying AND selling, the 10oz bars are the sweet spot - bigger is harder to sell, smaller and the premiums eat into your weight, with weight being the primary objective of stacking bars I think it's a good idea to stack coins from the major trusted mints from each sovereign nation - USA, UK, Canada and Australia - as it gives you the option of legal tender bartering across 3 different continents If you are in the UK though it's pretty much a no-brainer to buy Britannias (CGT-free). If you are in Canada you should be buying Maple Leafs as these are CGT free.
@michaelfranks341 Жыл бұрын
People wont care if its govt issued or rounds. Govt issued maybe harder to sell because of the distrust of Governments. Silver is silver and gold is gold in hard times. Having the US to back it up means nothing when the dollar collapses.
@michaelfranks341 Жыл бұрын
I buy what is cheaper, either rounds or govt coins if premiums are lower... Premiums go away in higher prices. You're just throwing money away you wont get back when selling.
@RyanJohnson-tk7hy Жыл бұрын
With rounds, I think the Buffalo round would be ok to stack for SHTF situation. And Constitutional silver is a must.
@Pax_Veritas Жыл бұрын
@@michaelfranks341 The difference in premiums at SD Bullion between a Freedom Round (which is a cool design and I like those rounds) and a Britannia (Type I, 2023, QEII) is exactly $0.00 (both are $27.30). Some generics (Buffalo rounds and Anniversary rounds) are actually more expensive on SD than Britannias, which is insane. Not only are Britannias legal tender in the UK but they have added security features relative to generics. Of course you are free to stack whatever you want but if the premiums are close IMHO you should ALWAYS take a legal tender coin over a generic round You can get some silver bars on SD that are $2 to $2.40 cheaper than the Freedom Rounds, including Perth Mint bars @$24.90 (currently Out of Stock) I'm happy to hear an explanation for why a generic round > government minted bar because I just can't think of a single reason.
@Pax_Veritas Жыл бұрын
@@RyanJohnson-tk7hy Yes, sorry, I keep neglecting Constitutional silver. If you are in the USA I agree you should stack some of this if you can find reasonable premiums. Buffalos from the US Mint are legal tender as are other commemorative coins from the US Mint but the private mint Buffalos are not legal tender. So again yes you are right in SHTF situations a US Mint Buffalo is an option

I’m looking to start buying silver as I don’t like the way the world is looking right now. I’m in Canada and the Canadian maple leaf 1oz is going for 40.75 and a generic buffalo head 1oz is going for 37.50. Why is the maple leaf more expensive is it because it’s a government coin? Also is a maple leaf a better choice over the buffalo head? Spot is around 31.69 why would I pay so much more for the maple leaf. I’m looking at the long term store of wealth and possibly a pay out in 10 plus years as silver is critical in the green movement. If not then I’d like to leave it to my daughter after I pass as a nice surprise. I recently found my fathers stash after I had to clean out his house and thought I’d like to do the same for my daughter.

I think many stackers that stack because of economic reasons, miss the boat. I stack becsuse I don't have faith in the dollar. If you have to use silver to purchase food and other items down the road, you want to buy "generic" silver. Example: A 1 ounce generic silver round, might cost you $24 to $27. A one ounce silver Maple Leaf or an American Eagle, will cost you around $34 to $38 an ounce. Business's will not care that your 1 ounce is an Eagle or a Maple Leaf. All they care about is that the coin is an ounce of silver. Therefore you could lose a lot of money by trying to barter with Eagles or Maple Leafs. If silver is at $29 an ounce when you barter, you just lost money if you trade an Eagle or a Maple leaf. The silver content is ALL that matters when you barter. If you barter with a generic round, you break even or maybe make money. That's why over 3/4 of my stack is generic silver. Best of luck to everyone.
@jackbean7195 Жыл бұрын
See another smart person. A ounce of silver is an ounce of silver unless it is a very rare coin. When I first started buying it was mostly silver eagles than I sold a lot when it hit 30 an Oz. I started buying it back for under 30 last year and mainly get Buffalo Rounds . It makes no difference to me and I'd rather save that extra difference to buy more. Luckily I should have back what I sold next month for under 30 unless the silver keeps going up .

the reason coins are more valuable than rounds is because they are more reputable. And not everyones going to want to be weighing random silver rounds to make sure theyre a full ounce or be checking their purity at every transaction

In Canada, where I live, you don't really get a deal on silver. The cheapest I have seen silver go for is $36.00 per oz. This is of course in Canadian dollars. Gold is too expensive. $740 Canadian dollars for a quarter oz of gold. It's outrageous. Spot prices on silver and gold are also not going up appreciably, so if you sell you get squat. From my perspective gold and silver are horrible investments. People don't have food to eat. They are up to their eyeballs in debt. You think with their meager incomes, they are going to be able to afford gold and silver. Even if they go and buy gold and silver, what exactly will it do? You have to convert it back to fiat anyway. You may get less, you may get more. It's definitely not going to feed you unless the gold and silver are converted back to fiat, the most liquid form of money.

I own some silver but not as an investment or wealth preservation because it is not except for some lucky few.

Our Federal Reserve Notes were more portable than carrying Silver coin in our pockets. And Silver was needed for the war efforts to build planes. It once equaled an ounce of the precious metal but then some nucklehead gave permission to print more currency which devalues each Federal Reserve Note that equaled that weight of the original constitutional Silver coins struck for circulation. As the Dollar fell in value according to the weight of an ounce of Silver which was approximately fourteen silver dimes it was better to save the dimes as a physical currency than to hold printed currency in one’s bank account. And as the current administration fixed a blind eye on the damage being done, it became open boarders for a deep loss in the power of the Federal Reserve Notes against physical Gold and Silver. The weight of Silver never increases. And is why it is a better deal than holding onto the falling Dollar. Soon a loaf of bread costing a nickle years ago, will cost a king’s ransome! Those that held onto their precious metals can cash in when those who didn’t will not be able to bail out. “Not about earning wealth. It’s about protecting and preserving wealth.”

These beginner videos that answer basic questions, and help to put to rest some uncertainties, are very helpful. There’s definitely an anxiety in getting started, especially when you don’t know enough about buying precious metals, using them, selling them, and transporting them (e.g., if moving from one state to another by plane). It’s hard for beginners to know whether or not they’re getting a good deal, and how to compare prices. We also want to make sure that we’re getting quality coins from places that can be trusted. Also, I live in the U.S., so I don’t know how I’m supposed to report these assets, and how this would affect taxes.

New subscriber…can you do a video about the worth/efficacy of buying/collecting/“stacking” various US Mint coins such as the Presidential medal series, the Military Medal series etc. The Presidential series has a high mintage whereas the Military Medal series has a low mintage and the US NAVY 2.5 ounce is already selling for 3 times the value in some markets as it only had a mintage of 10,000. Thanks.

I ordered 10 ounces this morning, pretty much on schedule. What does everyone think, should I have waited a week to potentially save $10, or do you think it's going up?
@SilasMarnerAuAg Жыл бұрын
it’s 10 ounces. it sounds like you’re dollar cost averaging which is wise. so even if it goes down $1, you’re only back $10. i don’t think it was a bad idea at all. sure, it may go down somewhat when the fed meets again here pretty soon but it won’t stay there very long if it does go down some

Silver is not money. It is a valuable good. Meaning it has real world uses. Money doesn't have a use outside of trading for goods and services. Same with gold. They also are not an investment, they are a value hedge to be sure, but the purchasing power of gold and silver hasn't really changed in thousand of years. Which is amazing. There is short term fluctuations but in the long run now the same amount of silver will get you what it did 500 years. Even though there is vastly more of it in circulation now than there was back then, because more uses are found frequently for it. If an apocalyptic event happens and all the banks are destroyed the knowledge of how to use silver and gold to do things won't disappear its too decentralized so it's value will hold better. It will take a huge hit for quite a while. But it will bounce back as the means of production are put in place. Then by having capital you can come out on top in the New world order that emerges.
