I had an 8’ straight blade and it was very tight doing bank drive-thrus at one property I used to have. Just this season I upgraded to a 8.5’ V-plow and that like that it gets narrower in scoop mode for such a scenario. Wings or an expansion blade just won’t do the same thing. Actually glad I didn’t go with the bigger option.

Yea for a beginner that is trying to pay attention to to many things the joy stick is probably the best way to learn. Once an experienced operator gets a handle on the wideout controller, it's second nature. I like that i can feel the shape of the buttons with my thumb and know exactly what i'm hitting. With the wideout, you can push snow to the end of a lot in scoop and tap the retract button at the curb and leave it way cleaner than a standard plow with wings. I'm a huge fan of the wide-out, this is my 5th year with it. I've also ran other plows.

Well, I watched pretty much all your video. All I can say is that I've been running these Western wideouts for several years, and it's just like wiping your ass once you get used to it. It's just like everything else. It's one of the best plows that I've ever ran and I've been in this industry for 49 years. Hands down without a doubt plows faster than any plow produced out there on the market. I would challenge anyone in a parking lot. Or private roads residential's Etc. The controller you don't look at it. That's your first problem. You just start running the buttons with your fingers and get used to wear the positions of all them are and you go on from there. Sorry bud can agree with you whatsoever If you're looking at your controller if you are then it will probably happen again.

I’ve an mvp3 and the exact same wideout as him... tbh I’m trying to see his argument and I’m at a loss. Shit happens, you were distracted using the controls. 5 years of using the same controller and I don’t even think, tap tap tap mane. Just get familiar with the features.he didn’t go over programming either... one tap float, one tap sweep or security authorization. Please read the manual and or go over features with your dealer before dropping a fat stack of cash on stuff you don’t even need. That much we agree on
@JohnnyMow

I’ve got the remote down now but the hydraulics are a. Bit slow compared to other plows I’ve owned. I guess I was expecting something that this plow is not. @martinlaing7920
@martinlaing7920 3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnnyMow right on!, I agree there on the hydraulics speed. All the features come at a cost. Higher hydraulic volume just to move everything around. Have your wings gotten stuck or taken extra time to retract yet? Auto pile pick and choose when it wants to work? Right now I’m diagnosing the blinking light of death and on the edge of ordering new harnesses XD. It’s a nice toy to have and when she doesn’t have my hands dirty my sub contractor doesn’t pretty good with the wideout. I first stated with a boss V blade with I prefer but retired are f550 as my current f350 is running an mvp. I find the back drag on a v blade cleaner then most of the straight blades I’ve used.

The reason I use straight blades with wings and a mounted joystick. 20 + years and it works. Im looking at the prodigy as the best of what is offered on the market that can still be controlled by a simple joystick. These hand held controllers are too complex for me. The reality is i can clear a same size lot against a v plow any day in the same amount of time or even a little faster. I have used western, boss, meyer over the years and i currently run a boss with wings, but i like western more just have a really good boss dealer locally. But i totally agree these new plows have too much going on and its dangerous. I never look down at the controller so 100 % of my time is looking where im going.

Johnny if you want the wings to expand at the same time you have to deadhead the Rams when retracting. What I mean is when you retract and the wings retract all the way, keep holding retract an additional half second. Then when you hit expand, they both will move out at the same time. Give the plow some time, the controller will become muscle memory.
