The 8 channel surround Sound.Can I do a hundred and twenty Frames ? Four gaming
@davidjudd951 Жыл бұрын
I've always been partial to Pioneer products. When my 22 year old Pioneer AVR blew it's left channel recently, my loyalties wanted so bad to stick with Pioneer. But the ears test, just wouldn't let me turn away from the Marantz sound after testing several well known brands. So I now own a Marantz SR6015. With that being said, I did notice that the Marantz and Pioneer were real close in the direction they take in music sound. Ultimately, the Marantz had that beautiful clean sound, especially at higher volumes.

I had a Pioneer SC-05 and looking for a newer AVR, originally I was set on buying the Pioneer SC-LX704 then I heard the Pioneer VSX-LX505 had more options. Right before I pulled the trigger on it, Marantz made an announcement on their new lineup. I ultimately bought my very first Marantz AVR. It's the Marantz Cinema 50

Nice review! The only thing I would like to see is pre outs on the lower end models. It feels as if they copying Denon as they also force you to buy the higher end models for the pre outs and then you fork out more cash for features maybe never to be used. I have the Pioneer lx59 and the bigger models have the same DSP processor but larger internal amplification so it made sense to settle with the choice I made seeing that all speakers are powered by power amps. The internal amp can also be disabled which is nice. My entry level vsx-924 has at least pre outs for a stereo power amp. More power reserved to drive the remaining speakers.
@BrodeyDoverosxАй бұрын
Lol I was just thinking this. It’s the big feature that was included on all elite receivers which let you slowly build out your system. I guess we’ll all end up buying NAD/Marantz at some point.

I snagged an HK AVR 320 in mint with remote from an EBay auction for $80 delivered a couple of years ago and that unit is still serving me well with Blu Ray, DVD, multi channel CD which is one away from their pinnacle of receivers, the HK 520. Decent Pioneer Elite will cost at least $1000. It will not have the DC current capability of a 20-year-old HK but their highest end pieces usually at least $12-1500 are very good comparable to HK AVR silver 300 +series. which is super quiet in terms of noise floor with much dynamic power.
@cyberathlete Жыл бұрын
outdated. no HDMI, no Arc, no calibration, no 4k, no Atmos (when every movie in the last 8 years has had it). Today's receivers are more sophisticated. Also take inflation into account. That has impacted everything in every industry. I used to own the HK AVR 520 back in the day (and I still have their HK 3490 stereo integrated that I use) but these are antique surround receivers that although still sound good, are missing a plethora of features that are needed for today's movies and shows. Not counting the HK 3490 that's still a stereo class A/B 125 Watts/channel that has the warm HK sound signature. Back when the AVR 320 was released a McDonald's meal was still $5-$6 for a full combo, compared to $15 today. One can argue about everything from the past, houses, cars etc etc. on how they used to be so cheap. $1000-$2000 is a fair price in today's market and it's not artificial. If you were paying attention to BF deals this weekend a dozen receivers went on HUGE discounts. I picked up a Pioneer 11 channel for $750 brand new. Denon, Sony all had massive sales.
@ericr530 Жыл бұрын
@@cyberathlete I do my video switching through my display instead of routing it through the receiver where it's subject to more noise, and the receiver has to be powered on to use the switching, inconvenient if just watching TV. So having all kinds of video "goodies" is unimportant to me. An older analog amp with discrete components and the sound quality from such is more important than a ton of video processing and switching. If the video is already 4K Blu ray it doesn't make an ant hill difference anyway.
@cyberathlete Жыл бұрын
@@ericr530 There is no noise and you can pass video signal through receivers without any form of degradation. There is no processing being applied if you choose 'pass through' for video. HDMI is all digital signal. There is nothing that will affect the picture or sound quality in an HDMI cable. You can Google it and hundreds of myths have been debunked about it. Also with eARC or ARC, your receiver communicates automatically with the TV and you only need to use the TV remote to control the receiver. No programming needed. The receiver responds to the TV volume. If you turn on the TV the receiver automatically turns on and the TV remote can then control the volume on the receiver. Modern technology has made hi-fi even more convenient and fun to use. All my setups in the entire house run off of eARC. My gaming consoles, my PC, my 4k blu-ray players. ZERO video compromise and ZERO audio compromise and ZERO hassle of using more than one remote.

Nice review as always. One thing a lot of people miss is that amp power has to double to get a noticeable 3dB gain. the 120 watts in the 505 is the smallest difference between the three amps as it's less than 0.8 dB greater than the other two. The feature set difference between the three as well as cost should be the driving factors. Back on the amp section there is one other factor and that is the power supply. They are not all created equally and some will only support full output power for brief periods of time. If the 505 has a better designed power supply than the other two it could make a very real difference and much more important than 20 additional Watts of output devices.
@Radarcb329 Жыл бұрын
What matters is also whether the current drivers are power FETs, and my SC-LX901 had those. Also read my comments above. The FETs allowed Pioneer to meet 4 ohm performance over the band.

Hello, is this pioneer LX305 elite receiver still relevant today? Starting the process of framing out and finishing my basement. would like to add some speakers in the ceiling or wall over the TV area and maybe 2 over the bar. found this open box at Best Buy, Was marked down to 690, but got it down to $500. Is this fine for what I’m doing? To watch tv and play consol games and light music. Will add a ps5 and Alexa. I don’t know what multichannel pre-out means or if I need it. Direct live? All I know is I’ll need a receiver to run speakers because standard sound bar is crap. will have a large TV probably Samsung and will just stream wirelessly KZbin TV and prime, hopefully can get the sound to it with this. I figure since it’s nine channel, would place seven speakers somewhere in the ceiling and two subs somewhere. Idk Suggestions? Purchase today, can return it for something else.

I don’t consider that Onkyo buying Pioneer is a good thing and this video cemented that idea. I have what was the flagship Pioneer receiver SC-LC901 and it had a Direct Energy amp with FET drivers. This Onkyo Class A/B amp is a downgrade and potentially just sales pitch for pseudo-audiophiles. Note Pioneer has had to issue firmware changes for Dirac which also says this product is half baked compared to the MCACC which supported calibration of two independent subwoofers. The future of efficient amps is not class A or class A/B for solid state, it’s Class D using very high speed GaN switching devices to directly convert digital (in PWM) to analog without intervention with DACs. The Direct energy amp Pioneer used was closer to that, but only suffered the ignorance of audiophiles who haven’t heard modern Class D.

So one key feature that may want to get touched on with the difference with the 105/305 to the 505 is that if i remember correctly it will process Zone 2 audio from the HDMI where as the 105/305 needs to have the analog connection from the source to process zone 2 independent of the main zone. Fact check me on that but im pretty sure the 505 is tge only one that does that.

The manual says that the Component video input is limited to 480i/576i. Current Onkyo receivers like the RZ50 have the same limitation (not sure about Denon or other brands). I want to upgrade my 7.1 + zone 2 to 7.2.4 + zone 2 system. I have existing Pioneer VSX-LS 933. Can I hook it to any of the three reviewed receivers to achieve this? I am ok with zone 2 to disable couple of channels in the main room as I almost never play 2 zones at the same time.
@LennyFlorentine2 жыл бұрын
The LX505 can achieve that with an external 2 channel amp. The Yamaha A8A is the only 11 channel receiver without using an external amp for the last 2 channels

9:37 Def-Tech owners enter the chat... Why would someone do that? Def-Tech BP-7000SC x4, BP-7001SC x2, CLR3000 x2. The CLRs are just connected to the full range for the 10" powered driver. The 7000SCs (14" driver & 1800w amp) and the 7001SC (10" drivers &1500w amp) are all connected to the sub out (Denon 3803).

OK I need help now. I am not very technical but want to upgrade my stereo system. I do not repeat do not do any gaming I am strictly audio and video I am running kef 150 and center channel, SVS sub and Polk rear . Because I am not very technical I ruled out the Yamaha‘s because the bugs don’t seem to be worked out yet and I don’t like upgrades. I was going to go with the Dan on 3700 but now saw these pioneers. My room is relatively small less than 15 feet total but the ceilings are 12 feet which receiver is best for me? I am currently running a Sony STR 1060 which I feel may be my weak point any help you can afford would be appreciated

Gotta be honest Marc, if you are strictly audio the 4k120 doesn't matter so I'd go with the Yamaha because their strong area is just that. If your set on no Yamaha, go with the LX305 or Onkyo 7100.

I really wish the industry hadn't discontinued component video. It's great for connecting your cable box....which then frees up one of your HDMI ports. Unfortunately, my CX panel does not have component video connections. 👎 On another note, I prefer Pioneer Elite and Yamaha for their sound quality. I think Denon and Marantz are a little darker sounding and a bit less detailed, at least to my ears.
