Same here. I have a 2012 Lancer GT, and all I've done with it, be that accidentally, is get a set of wider lower rims, combined with slightly wider tires. She just looks so bad with those rims sticking out slightly from the frame. It's my glossy Evo. My idea of a perfect car, is one that gets the fuel mileage and looks of my black beauty, but also had the suspension package of a true Evo. So you get good gas mileage and great cornering when you want it. Unfortunately I can't see spending all that money to make it truly Evo suspensioned. While I love the hot rod aspect to the Evo, to me it's terrible gas mileage makes it much less attractive. When I got the GT, gas mileage and looks were my primary goals. If the Evo got just as good gas mileage and DIDN'T have a turbo, I might had paid at least another 5K for my GT. I hated the idea of buying a car at least 13K more expensive, and yet it gets terrible gas mileage. I can see buying a terrible gas mileage car, but it better not cost an arm and a leg to begin with. The way I felt about it at the time, if I wanted a power car, granted it has SUPREME suspension, I would had got a Mustang GT instead, because not only does it not need a turbo, but I think V8's are typically more dependable. I definitely don't trust hot rodded four cylinders. BTW guys, I don't think the ladies are exactly drawn to dirt gray as a color for a car. Try some sleek black or some wild color like that stock royal blue, or maybe an aftermarket bright yellow. Seriously, the color of that car here is just the pits, and the fact that Evo's have quite a bit of flat color to them, just makes matters worse. Actually, one of those stock white Evos probably would be great. White can be pretty dull too, but not the Evo one, ohhhh no.

I have an FBO 2013 Lancer GT, 485 horse Nitrous build, I can confirm, heat is also an issue with us Non-Evo's too. Great and awesome Vid, same with Lancers, my interior, minus the Factory Recaro seats, it's the same. I agree.
@AnabolicGoat8 ай бұрын
485hp and nitro on a Lancer that's just asking for heat problems with such crammed exhaust manifold configuration, I hope you at least got a vented hood lol. My Evo is 355hp and it gets hella toasty under the hood. Interior is in my opinion alright, it's not a luxury car, but an economy sedan and Evo is just that with bucket seats and nicer steering wheel and I like that about it.
@Shim_Shack_Studio8 ай бұрын
@@AnabolicGoat My Lancer GT Wagon gets hella hot man. Currently running a stock Evo X Hood for now. It helps but it's not enough. I definitely need larger hood vents, thinking about going with a Seibon CF hood, it's not about the style but the function I need man. I also need to upgrade my Radiator, if I could install larger fans, that would be great. Currently researching a set up right now. I would gladly take suggestions man. Building my FBO GT, I never took into account, the amount of heat my Lancer would build underneath the hood. The overcrowding of space is honestly, kicking my ass man. I took 2 days off work hoping to re-route a bunch of stuff, then got dumped with snow here MN. Punch me in the face. I wanted to fully re-route my intake with my custom FAB intake box and utilize my Evo X Intake snorkel. I also wanted to move my battery underneath my rear seats, since my spare tire well is taken up by 3 Scuba tanks, 2 nos tanks and 1 hydrogen tank, One of my long time old skool hot rodder friends hooked me up with the current set up. As of right now, I have a custom temp gauge mounted to my radiator, another hooked up on upper coolant line, then finally a temp gauge mounted to the firewall. The gauge that heats up the most is the gauge closet to manifold along the firewall. Not surprised. Haha. I on my front bumper, the nose area, I need to do some nose cutouts, I bought R32 GT-R Nose vents. That should also help with airflow and cooling. Anyways, I appreciate the reply back man, we'll have to do some brainstorming. I hope your Evo X is doing well too.
@AnabolicGoat8 ай бұрын
@@Shim_Shack_Studio The Seibon CF hood should help massively compared to stock Evo hood, but the biggest problem is the location of exhaust manifold as I mentioned. You might want to look into a top mount/side mount turbo setup which should reduce temps in a sense that it's not completely crammed behind the engine. As for intake I haven't had any problem running Evo intake snorkel, though I was thinking about routing the intake somewhere in front of driver side wheel and making some sort of baffle so it doesn't get wet (the Evo is more or less a daily). I tried it by mocking up some aluminium pipes I had laying around and it dropped intake temps pretty well, so that might help a bit with overall high temps in engine bay. I don't really know how well can you do it on a GT Lancer, but it's an idea. I think you are not really worried about the bumper since you mentioned cutouts, so I say go for it and use them and if you want to run the snorkel then try to route it directly to intake box/filter and if you haven't heat shielded it yet try to do that too. I'm hardly an expert in this area, but we can figure something out. You had some good ideas about how to do it so might aswell try and monitor. Good luck with it man.
@Will_Abner2 жыл бұрын
Honestly the problems they bring up sound like just lack of preparation and doing things the right way, if you’re putting a bigger turbo that’s going to run hotter there are several header options that bring the turbo up out of the hell hole behind the motor and you should be wrapping all of that piping anyway because of its location, also difs see probably the most abuse out of any part on a car besides brake components when you drive a car like you should and so would make sense for it to be the first drivetrain component to fail and if it’s a worry, it should be one of the first things you look to upgrade before going all out on the motor, can’t throw power at something with no way for it to be put down. But this is just my 2¢
@studentdriverrs10432 жыл бұрын
I work at English racing wrapping the header is mixed bag really. Seen plenty of cars catch fire because of a oil leak on the header so that’s a no. As for the rear diff it is indeed the weak point on these cars. Where they make up for it is a Beefier 5spd and transfer. Where as evo 8/9s rear diffs don’t have this issue. Anyone getting into a evo x for the first time would have no idea about this.

Very smart getting that brushed aluminum shifter/hand brake package.
