@@cityplannermismanages As an autistic person who has taken an unconventional route since high school, I find the workings of the schooling system quite fascinating. Currently, I am deeply interested in history. Since February, I have read and listened to around 50 history books and podcasts. P.S. If you're using Windows, try pressing Shift + Ctrl + Windows Key + Alt + L.

My friend sent this to me and without looking, I thought this was a big account with a lot of views. I got a huge shock seeing that it only had 140 views! Really good video - from one autist to another, it's really fun to watch (mainly your voice being clear and the visuals not being overwhelming). And it's city planning! Really interesting stuff, keep it up :3

Good job on making it through the first semester! Sounds like quite an academically challenging experience but you seem to have done well! I spend a lot of my time in a closed friend bubble, so I don’t usually experience whatever is going on outside. How wonderful to hear that people are still not mature enough even at uni. Well, stay well!

Take a look at Jakarta, Indonesia. This is a city that suffers with no meaningful city planning and an enormous amount of urban sprawl. The traffic in this city makes it extremely miserable to live or work or even visit, especially with no useful public transportation. Cities like this are in desperate need of help.

For ur first semester u really acquainted urself well and made use of ur resources to make sure u wouldn't fall behind good job. u will most likely meet some of the same people a few times in different courses so i recommend u don't make things weird or unfriendly. It's ok to make friends slowly in rooms filled with so many people it naturally feels like everyone is a lone wolf vs highschool where the class vibes with each other. Group assignments will come don't worry. Goodluck

I am currently in 2nd semester in Germany. Kinda interesting to see a completely different approach, to the way I have been thought so far. We already had our first project, about a campus expansion, in which we had to hand draw all maps and perspectives. GIS will only be introduced next semester. Greetings 👋🏻

Thanks. I'm sure Enviro Science is pretty cool, at least the sustainability side will be great. But in the long term you will probs get paid more than a city planner. Avg City Planner wage in Australia is only 90k (which is just around Sydney's median)

Im also an Australian with autism, I did a year and a half studying geography before I decided urban planning is where I want to be and what I love so I have transferred to an urban and regional planning course. GIS was also a struggle for me but I ended up getting ok marks and I'm quite proud of myself! I'm so excited to start urban planning later this month, many of my units sound quite similar to yours and this video has made me even more excited! it's very nice finding a community of people who are neurodivergent and passionate about urban/city planning too

I'm SO SO SO happy that you are switching to Urban Planning. GIS does very tough. My advice, start that subject first, do those assignments before anything else. Plus, if you do SKETCH UP - prepare for your PC to MELTDOWN - the specs required for SKETCH UP make Cities Skylines 2 look like a junior. Maybe one day, we might cross paths and work in the same Planning Office or for URBIS - seems URBIS is the place to be. And YAY for AUTIST CITY PLANNERS.

@@cityplannermismanages I'm certainly not prioritizing cars lol. Fortunately I live in one of the most bikeable cities in America. I actually want to either be a transportation planner and improve the transit network or a cartographer, aka making MAPS!!! One of the professors is an urbanist and writes a monthly column on my city's biggest issues. I'll probably have him in my 2nd or 3rd year.

When I was in college I refused to use Turn-it-in. My argument was that the company charged schools for their service which is entirely composed of students' intellectual property, for which they don't compensate us. My argument was persuasive. I submitted my papers to my professors, complete with my research material and drafts. (And a big copywrite statement on the report). While plagiarism is a huge problem, big businesses should be making profits off the work of honest students. BTW, when you mentioned the clubs in this video, did you say "furries"?! 😍
@cityplannermismanages

Turn-it is FR my ARCH-NEMESIS. It thinks it's the main character. I gulp and dread everytime see the RED flag get raised. I wish I had your skillset to take my uni on about it. But apparently, they must be reasonable with it, because another student had 36% and the uni didn't care. OH YES, there is a furries club.... and not any furries club. It's a ND furries club.

I have many questions, mate. I've never been to Uni, and the furthest South I've ever been is Benidorm. 😂 What exactly has cost 16 grand? Is that just the first semester, we call them "terms" in England. Or is it the entire course, or just first year? If it's for the entire course, how long is it? I'm just trying to understand where all the money is going, as that's £8300. Anyway, besides all the questions. Good on you for going to Uni, it's a fucking big step for anyone to make. I'm sure you'll be fine and making plenty of friends etc, once you settle into it properly.
@cityplannermismanages

No, that's for the first semester, which is for 6 months, the whole degree is around $40k. Things in Australia are just expensive and university tuition prices aren't regulated, so top 100 global unis charge more than regional less internationally recognised unis. The tuition isn't paid upfront but when you start working. I think it's worth every cent and I was speaking to a swedish friend who is also doing city planning and his course is free, and he said our facilities and coursework is 100× better than what their offered, so I was surprised by that. Thanks for the support. Any questions just fire away

@@cityplannermismanages Fuck!! That's £20K at current exchange rate. How long is the degree over? 1 year? Effectively it's a student loan then. Is there a threshold on earnings before you start paying it back or start repayments as soon as you're in any job?
@cityplannermismanages
@cityplannermismanages 3 ай бұрын
3 years, but can be done in 2. It's 60 credit points. Each subject is 6 points. The good thing abt the degree is, EVERY subject is city planning, no dumb electives (there is 3 FREE compulsory subjects though) like Consent matters, how to write for uni, and a careers one. The student loan is 10% of your wage, after you earn over 75k per year.
@mickywrx

@@cityplannermismanagesit's still a hell of a chunk of money. 😲 I suppose what matters most though, is you feel you're getting value for money and it's helping you on the journey you clearly want to take.
