Really informative Quick question The songs and sailors creed are in appendix bravo, are we required to memorize them for both RLP and OPI ? Songs and the watchstanding principles are my weak links. Really appreciate your help ma’am
@Mollyloveblue
@Mollyloveblue 2 жыл бұрын
I wasn't asked for songs until OPI, but since they're in bravo, they're technically fair game for any and all inspections. The sailors creed needs to be memorized for one specific thing about halfway through. Still good to know beforehand

How does picking a community work before shipping for navy ocs? I’m prior enlisted army and for us if you went to ocs you weren’t getting your community (branch for army) until near the end of ocs. I’m interested in going to navy ocs in the next 2-3 years finally after taking the long way through life in my 20’s (currently 26, 27 in august) and I’m leaning towards eod or intel or crypto warfare (current comp sci major and I do a lot of machine learning/AI work and I’m planning on getting my masters in that soon after I finish my bachelors)
@Mollyloveblue
@Mollyloveblue Жыл бұрын
So fun fact! When joining the Navy as an officer, you actually apply to the designator you'd like, and if you're selected by a board of community representatives for that designator, you get to go to OCS as that! If they don't select you, then you can re-apply under the same designator, a related designator, or go for an entirely different community. For example, there's the aviation community, the information warfare community, etc. If you're interested in Intel or Crypto, but you're interested in some sort of offensive or defensive cyber, then there's a new cyber designator beginning THIS YEAR. There's a NAVADMIN that went out about it. They even have a pilot program to send newly commissioned Ensigns through the ION program, which was previously reserved for only enlisted CTNs who are going to be operators for cyber effects. See how the program evolves over the next 2-3 years, and if it's something you're interested in, then talk to your recruiter about it. Best of luck!

Hi, Thanks for all of your videos. You mentioned that as Indocs, we are split into two companies, but are people then split up again into squads or smaller groups? Does each company only have one DI? In terms of classes, beyond the tests and drills, are we also writing papers, doing presentations? Also, during the first 8 weeks, is there much time on weekends to work out or swim laps on your own?
@Mollyloveblue
@Mollyloveblue 2 жыл бұрын
Throughout your time at OCS (but starting when you're INDOCs), your graduating class will be divided into two companies. Each class team will decide how they want to have drill conducted. Some classes have 2 DIs and 1 RDC, whereas others have 2 RDCs and 1 DI. When it comes to working out on your own, you can put in a special request chit as a class to be allowed to use the gym as early as JOC phase, but it's up to your class team to decide whether they want to approve it or not. I've seen some class teams say yes and others say no. You can put in a request after INDOC phase to be able to go to the field to run and work out. As far as how much time you have-- it really depends on how much time you need to study. Most people take Sunday morning to do religious services, so your study time has to be Saturday and then Sunday evening. It really depends on how you want to use your time. During CANDIO phase you will be presenting twice, which I'll cover in my CANDIO video. There are no assignments where you'll be writing a paper.

What are some study guides that helped you with taking your OAR exam?
@Mollyloveblue

I didn't really have a "study guide" per say. I figured out what sort of stuff would be on the exam and then focused on reviewing the foundations of those topics and doing practice problems in those areas. I'll be putting out an OAR study guide.

Molly, I'm with the best Interest for my son who has been with some decent athletic success. He's a three time NCAA Wrestling Champion and MMA with a couple of victories fighting for UFC. At the moment he is in Colorado Springs representing the USA Wrestling team for training bids for the upcoming International World Games in the quest for possible Olympic bids. My question is how should he deal with possible scrutiny and whether he will be prone to such because of his background. He has a college fraternity tattoo that I warned him against. Should he have it removed by dermabrasion? He graduated with a degree in Engineering (Aeronautical) with a minor in Physics this past December too and just turned 23 and definitely is hoping to attend BUDS as soon as possible.
@Mollyloveblue
@Mollyloveblue Жыл бұрын
As long as the tattoo is within regulations, he shouldn't have any issues with it. He's not going to deal with any more hardship than anyone else at OCS. BUD/S, however, will certainly be much more challenging than anything any OCS folks have endured. If he makes it through BUD/S, he'll have the easiest time at OCS. While at BUD/S, I would encourage him to not announce all of his achievements until maybe the last phase--when they've already endured all of the physically much more hellish phases (e.g.; INDOC/boat teams/catching the truck/hell week/freezing their butts off/etc. and the 'underwater' portion), and even after they make it through all of the academics. I would have him wait to talk about his experiences until he's pretty much a guarantee to graduate, because otherwise, he'll just be another guy with a great story who was just another 'buds dud'. It's much cooler if he gets through it and THEN can talk about his civilian achievements. Otherwise, it will be a case of 'Even an MMA fighter/UFC champion couldn't make it through!'

Hello I was wondering if you can help me with a question my wife is set to graduate from ocs in July and I’m planning my trip but cant seem to find any info on how time frame for graduation goes and if she’ll have free time or if she’ll be off to he next school station immediately after graduation if you can help please and thank you in advance
@Mollyloveblue
@Mollyloveblue 2 жыл бұрын
Go to the OTCN facebook page to get some updates. If she doesn't get injured or rolls, she will graduate on a Friday 13 weeks after her arrival Sunday. If she does roll, she'll be able to use the quarterdeck phone for 10 minutes to let you know. In that case, her time extends by 3 weeks. What happens is the night before graduation, there's a dinner with families and friends. The next morning is a demonstration for families, and then graduation. After graduation, people have different timelines. She will get her orders about a month before graduation and she'll have email access and then her phone and can let you know what's going on.
