You really threw it out of the park with this video Tony. I have been married for forty-two years and everything you said is exactly what happens when you get married. You did not sugarcoat it to please the ears and are really giving good advice. That's why people who are married are more capable of giving advice about marriage and relationship before marriage. This is a good one to watch over and over.

Hi Tony. Sober but such sound wisdom! My daughter got married 13 years ago and did a destination wedding on a cruise ship in Miami. Only those who could and wanted to support her and my son in law showed up. It was about 30 people. The wedding and reception was absolutely beautiful and all in the same room and after the wedding we got off the ship and she and her husband sailed away for a 10 day Western Caribbean Cruise. The rest of us stayed over in Miami for a couple more days vacationing. They celebrated their 13th year anniversary in August 2019 and now have two beautiful children. This is how I'm going to do it. Only those that can afford to support my marriage will be there. As she said she was not going to spend 50 to 75 dollars a plate for 300 naysayers to give her a 25.00 wedding gift. Brilliant!

I'll be 51 this year and a widow for almost 6 yrs at this point. I feel I'm ready to entertain a relationship but so far, there's only been one person I've had conversations. I’m of the opinion that most young adults especially young men under 30 should not marry for several years 3-4 yrs of dating - young adults have plenty of time to vet their person and make the right decision- people past 35 have some life experience under their belt and have the capability of making wiser choices so 2-3 yrs for the over 35 crowd is a good time frame imo although age is no guarantee of wisdom- even older adults can be immature and foolish but for the most part we have it together than the young ones who just look at how great the sex is

Tony, I thought it was just me who had the same theory on weddings! I’ve always told my family, I’m not having a wedding, I’m just going to the courthouse and and maybe throwing a small party in somebody’s backyard. 9 times out of 10, most of the people at your wedding do not really care for you as a person and only a handful of people know both of you that intimately. I’ve always thought the idea of wedding ceremonies (not marriage - I believe in the sanctity of marriage) were weird anyways. 50-200 people all staring and watching you profess your love to someone - just strange 🙃 And that is such a wise word to actually have a wedding ceremony after a previously established successful marriage! The world is not ready for this!!! Love it! ✨👏🏽

I definitely agree with you Tony that you don't want to rush into marriage. It's two things you have to make sure you choose wisely . First thing is who you have kids with. Secondly who you married. It's a lot of folks getting married to any body just to have a wedding to prove a point.

Yesss this spoke volumes. On so many levels just listening and observing before you get married will save you a life time of unnecessary heart aches and pain. And years of time you can’t get back. Thank you for educating us to new knowledge.

What you do for a living, who you marry and have children with, are the three most important decisions that can affect your quality of life. Be selective and be smart and most of all grow yourself.

Omg so true about therapist not giving any feedback, when you ask them what they think they don't give you their opinion or the advice what they would do...it's so weird, it's true you can't relate to such person or trust them with your deepest problems, like how can you when you have no clue what they think of what you just said....

Process over Prefection. There will be 100%. Prefect. You have to do the work. Marriage is a ministry. And you have to be call for it.

This needed to be said. Instagram and tic tock is the reason why Many people think a million dollar wedding is the marriage. Funny thing is those couples usually have the most issues. I’ve seen it first hand.

I always say people marry the wedding and not the marriage. That’s why over 50% still end in divorce. People don’t want to put in the work, but they sure want to look good!

I agree, but there’s one special case I’ve seen of a woman I know in particular who married her husband secretly because everyone in the family warned her about this man and she went through with it anyway because she was getting to a certain age.

Absolutely- we as women have got to stop being so giddy over putting a wedding dress and gold band without first developing self- love and an identity apart from having a boo

Excellent video, thank you so much!!! We all need to stop having the wedding before the marriage and we definitely should do the work in marriage, to earn the right to have the huge all out wedding ceremony 10yrs or so later....

Had no idea you were so hilarious …You’re speaking my language Tony & I’m a huge believer in love. I know my upbringing wasn’t the best and I would definitely want to know how his was. Therapy for me is a must to uncover things I want to overcome so I would need for him to be ok with this as well as attend sessions with me when need be. I’ve never been married but when I do, it’s the ONLY one I will have. Weddings are beautiful indeed but if it’s not financial feasible then that’s just what it is. I would rather something extremely intimate or courthouse as you say…. it really wouldn’t matter as long as I have my forever husband & we can be the best we can be for each other. 🙏🏽❤️

Amen! I got married in 2020, and let me tell ya, the restrictions were a blessing when it came to our wedding. We could only have 10 people at the service including, the pastor who officiated. So the ceremony was very intimate.

Amen! God ordained! He has to be the center focal point of the marriage!!!!! Too many ppl are choosing based on the same precepts they did at 20 in their 40ties and 50ties and wonder why they have the same outcome!

So true. ❤🙏🏽❤ I was going to school for MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling-Sub Abuse and Addictions. I switched Major to MS Psychology this year. Counselors have more of a holistic approach we don't tell clients advice we help them make their own decision by utilizing counseling techniques Meso skills and Solar skills. we were discouraged to share we went through this or to say do this helped me. only share if it will be beneficial to client treatment, not the counselor or therapist. I rather have a courthouse wedding when it comes to I talked to my boyfriend about this. this is fantastic advise.

This was awesome lol. When you talked about men who talk that, “Marriage is just a piece of paper” - immediately thought of Johnny Depp. He said those exact words in an interview. That is why I couldn’t fully sympathize for the poor man. They want these young hot spicy crazy things, well … there ya go.

Wow 😳 Tony, you are right in point. I tried to tell a younger relative of mine to slow down about the man she married too soon after coming out if a bad relationship & she rushed in any way , & now she has the effects of the problems that was a red flag when they were dating. I told her be very very careful of what you ask for & fall for when you haven't vetted them & God 🙏😅 didn't tell yes to first!!! Now with the problems they have that frustrated her deeply, I told her she must fast & pray 🤔🙏 to affect this marriage. I told her make a life, focus, her purpose work inside of the marriage & not just focus in his issues so she can get control if her life even while married !!! Thanks Tony you help so much with telling the truth about what's happening with men & women & relationships & the wisdom we need to apply to our thinking plans & life with Gods guidance & when he approves of our decisions & actions before we make final actions!!!

I've been contemplating about this for weeks now so I'm glad this video came up! I've known my bf for 4 months before we got into a relationship so it's still new but we're best friends and talk a lot everyday. I have an idea about his temperament, upbringing, struggles, etc. We read a book together by Gottman. I ask him a lot of questions about the future. We both want the same things and think the same way. But I know we still have to get to know each other better. I'm very much happy with him. Our relationship is healthy. I thought I'm the only one who doesn't want a wedding. I think weddings are corny. 😅 I wanna skip it and just sign the contract. If i have a wedding I want it to be just family. We're both from big families so maybe less than 30 people. I don't want a big wedding because what's important for me is being together. We're in a long distance relationship so moving with him to his country is another hardship we have to go through with the visas and everything but I'm blessed to have someone who has plans and is working towards it everyday. Also, my bf looks like a greek statue. 😭 That's funny when you mentioned that. I'm very much realistic about relationships and I know things won't always be good. Our friendship helps us see how we handle hurt and frustrations and I'm glad we're best friends because it made our communication easier. We discussed our goals before becoming official. So right from the beginning we are dating with marriage in mind. I think weddings are worth celebrating only for renewal of vows. As an introvert, I don't like formal social events and may not feel comfortable in my own wedding 🤣 so I don't wish to have a big wedding. 🤷 I prefer we spend the money on a house and traveling because we'll already be spending a lot on visas and him visiting me. So it will take us a few years before getting married. And it's ok as long as i see him being consistent. The main thing is we keep God as part of our relationship.
