It’s a pity that their dynasty never recovered after Wei’s son came into power. I have watched the entire series two times and the excerpts frequently. I totally love it. One problem though is the white haired emperor has no wrinkles and his hands are those of a young man. The same is true of the white haired Dowager. Minor nit picking compared to the well acted, beautifully costumed and all around delightful series. I’d love to know the truth about Ruyi being erased from history and why she was not buried as an empress. I’m sure we will never know.

The mushroom soup was addictive. She gave some to several of the young princes and they died. So as a punishment the emperor ordered that she drink the mushroom soup everyday. Until they gave her arsenic. 😐
