I’ve watched this scene dozens of times, and it never gets old. It is so satisfying to watch that evil woman finally held accountable for her deeds. Ruyi used the last of her strength to bring this murderous woman to justice, and I’m glad she got to see it before she passed. I just hate that her son still became emperor, and that he elevated her posthumously. She didn’t deserve that exaltation even in death.

Her posthumous elevation was true based on real history but Ling guifei’s personal characterisation in this series was fictional. Just like it was in YanXi

Actually, this is much more different than the depiction of the novel. In this scene, Ruyi haven't died yet but she only died due to her illness succumbs to her but in the original novel, Ruyi died earlier as she used her life to bring down Ling and brought justice for those who had been killed by Ling. From what I know, the actress who played the role of Ruyi suggested that they change this scene into much more intense yet dramatic because in the novel, they just killed Ruyi at that moment.

If the costumers and craftsmen who worked on this show didn't get utterly BURIED in awards, the world is totally insane. The acting is great, it's starting to make me slowly pick up bits and tiny pieces of the language (and now plan on trying to learn properly) but I am shocked, over and over again, about the incredible skill put forth in all the costumes, the set and the jewelry created for this. I'm a decent seamstress, but the time and skill put forth is staggering even to someone who knows a fair bit of construction in garments. It's just outstanding. And so far beyond what I've ever seen on almost all other countries tv shows. Stunning.

Its what drew me to the series too. Everything is just SO BEAUTIFUL. As an artist, the paintings done as well are just phenomenal. Like every little piece in the background was expertly crafted.

這個片段把乾隆的愚昧描述的淋漓盡致非常到位，虧得小時候歷史老師與史學家和一些文學作家都稱康雍乾是清朝盛世是明君，中國也最常以此自吹自擂，但現在看到這一幕就覺得很諷刺，乾隆在這段戲台詞最少但最愚昧，衛的罪行愉妃加上三個證人都說不動他，非要他養母甄嬛用母親的輩分來撼動乾隆的愚昧，乾隆才稍稍醒來，一個比左祿還愚昧的乾隆居然可以當皇帝，果然是跟習維尼一樣有皇帝命但沒皇帝的本事啊~😆

Why do I love this scene? Because it proves the dude that he was wrong all along. No, I don’t dislike Wei lady. She played a good game. The emperor thought he was so smart and loved by all his concubines, but he was proven wrong over and over again that no one loves him.

Ruyi WAS amiable, she is the essence of true love, and resiliency 💖 but was emotionally profiled & treated like an OUTKAST. Fuca Clan Empress like HONGLI wore a MASK to hide their true selves but I think their temperament was similar.

The Emperor finally knows for certain - all his accusations against Ruyi were false. In the end he destroyed the only real love he had. Ruyi's message, that each person chooses their own trap, was not just for Wei Yanwan, but for the Emperor, as well. He was repeatedly manipulated by Wei Yanwan. His ego was his chosen trap. He has no one to blame but himself. After Ruyi dies, the Emperor realizes his lust for Xiangjian was not love, and no one can replace Ruyi by his side. He never apologized to Ruyi. Those who think Wei Yanwan won in the end because her son became Emperor, have forgotten the things Ruyi valued. Ruyi won because she "divorced" herself from the Emperor, "renounced" her Empress position, thus freeing herself from the Forbidden City. The Emperor fulfilled her wish that her son live a simple and happy life by keeping him out of succession. Ruyi's wanted to be free - *not* bound to the Emperor for eternity. After learning the Emperor was having a portrait of himself and Xiangjian painted, she no longer saw their portrait as a sign of their eternal bond - Ruyi wanted to be erased from the palace, so she could be reincarnated as a regular person. Correct me if I'm wrong - but the Emperor's act of cutting his hair was a serious enough infraction that it would exclude him from being reincarnated within the Palace, and would allow him reincarnation as a commoner, hopefully to reconnect with Ruyi in another life.

Exactly. This is why it's so important that Empress Dowager came and lit the fire on his feet, so to speak. There was no coming back after she had her say. And repeated what Ruyi had to say. WeiYanwan killed so many people, she lost track. Yet he would've still let her go, just confine her to her palace or something. I was glad Empress Dowager came out on Ruyi and HaiLan's side for this. She shouldn't have had to, but ya know, he's a weak minded vain man who nearly caved into Wei's pleading.

True and that's why he said early on that his image of the perfect empress is a woman who can manage all the palaces with ease, which is what Ruyi was managing to do. His issue was letting his power and lust cloud his judgement. He was completely blind to what his control over the Harem drove those women to do. She was completely right to say that she was driven to do those things. It's a high chance that she hadn't done it, someone would have turned around and killed her children or had her children unflavored. She was right that as dirty he thinks her hands are, The Other Women in the harm are just as bad with the exception of Ruyi and even Hailan technically. As greedy some of the women were, he and this system drive this violence.

I love when her two servants were serving her the bowl of poison and they were just like slowly carefully carefully with the least concern Voice I’ve ever heard. They just didn’t give a rat but anymore and they were just happy to get her dead. But on the more serious note, the number of flags and the number of people that this one individual was responsible for killing it just so devastating. And the sad part is, we know that she was in the second batch of women. So how many did the actual empress get involved with? How many did the Gao Guifei getting involved with? How many did Jia ping get involved with so many beforehand how many Had to die for this. That’s why I just turned away from historical dramas it’s just so depressing it’s not bad enough, knowing that they did this in the drama, but thinking that it might’ve actually happened. And what truly saddens me the most is knowing that the current Tai-ho had to go through all of this in her own lifetime just to watch it replay in the next lifetime. How many deaths did she see how many things was she involved with?
