Okay so, this is what I was told about Kurloz sewing his mouth shut. He and Meulin were sleeping, and he started having a nightmare and hearing voices, he woke up screaming causing Meulin to go completely deaf and unable to recover. Because he felt so bad that he caused this, so he chewed out his tongue and sewed his mouth shut, never to speak again...

I think it had something to do with how everybody was basically surrounded and touching during Ministrife, somehing about Porrim, and how it was triggering to Kankri? I had to repeat it a couple times with headphones, but that's all I really understood from it, unfortunately.
