My husband and I rode there and rode home from and to GEORGIA ... TWICE! The first year was 2008 and we had this same issue ... hailstorm. We parked at the drivethru of a bank in Rapid City for cover!

It's a Toyota FJ cruiser, well that's what we call them in Australia. He looks to have a HD and a trike in that trailer, on one very frail looking hitch connection to the car. It would be snapped off on Australian roads with so much neck length.

Yup. SD has insane weather. Remember one year we were there for biker rally and mom and i were in Lead at hotel a monster storm came through then we go outside and a huge mudslide came down right through town. Insane weather for sure

fun fact: sturgis sd is actually in “hail alley” just like wyoming, so if you live or visit in sd or wyoming in the summer PLAN TRIPS ACCORDINGLY! ive visited both states before and nearly lost a car to hail! thankfully im a mechanic so repairs werent insanely hard but still!

Here in Austria we invest in Planes that spray some chemical mixture into the air that makes hail smaller and less freezable, this means more rain and flooding, yet little to no Hail Damage.

In 2000 sturgis got eight inches of hail. Belfouch SD had softball size hail. There was a lot of work around there that year. Dam i miss the Black Hills
