I hate that I've gone through something similar. What we felt was strict was just those adults around us trying to keep us safe. These guys will never change. I feel like you kept having those dreams about him as warnings that he would pop up.

But it backfires because when kids inevitably do go out when they aren't supposed to, because they don't have any freedom and end up getting SA'd, they're too scared of getting in trouble to tell you what happened. They go on to live with that trauma for years. Strict households lead to sneaky kids and more trouble in the long run. Even tho most strict parents have the best intentions (I hope, cause some parents just be power hungry) there needs to be a balance there. You keep kids safe by teaching them how to defend themselves and creating a relationship built on trust, not fear masked as "respect" for the adult. We need to teach young boys to boundaries and consent, and we need to teach girls that a boy being stronger doesn't mean you can't find a way out of a situation. In a world like this you gotta be smart.

Those dreams were a warning from God. Unfortunately as women we have to stay hyper HYPER vigilant cuz some dudes stay crazy. Have a good trip hun stay safe and prayed up. I had a HORRIBLE experience in my 1st apartment in the city. I went from feeling comfortable, to having a bunch of dudes moving in, more dudes hanging around the complex at all hours of the day and night, catching the building superintendent giving these random men my name (which is on my mailbox in the lobby) to other men living in the building, and ultimately a man waiting for me to come home to break into my apartment TWICE. Thankfully I got up out of there.✌🏾

They were 2 - 3 years older than I was. They were both popular in our area because their families were well known. I attended school with their younger siblings and a couple other people who loved and stood by them regardless of what happened, teachers included. School was HELL. I attempted suicid3 @17 by taking a handful of pills.. But God spared my life. I'll be 30 in September. Although I'm better now, I'm still healing from that experience. 🙏🏾
