It’s very generous of this man to give us as much as he does.

The crying baby provided a beautiful, powerful impromptu demonstration of the three major points raised at that precise moment: When is the most important moment (right now, the present moment)? Who is the most important person (the person right in front of you)? And what is the most important thing to do (to care)? Using the moment of the crying baby, Ajahn Brahm instantly moved the audience into meditation exercise, reminding everyone not to be annoyed by the crying child but breathe, stay in that moment, give the child attention, and--most importantly--to care. Bravo, Ajahn Brahm.

AB is a great story teller. I’ve heard these stories over a dozen times, but I never tire hearing them. It’s like listening to them for the first time. Why? I ask myself. It’s because AB is engaging. My mind gets sucked into these stories every time. That’s what makes it work. Not only is he a brilliant intellectually, he is a compassionate Buddhist monk and also the consummate entertainer. He’s truly one of a kind.

So, so glad I could hear him clearly after the one hour mark. Because that is when the real meat of it comes. At least for me. Yay! Awesome, awesome talk. Life changing. I donated to BSWA today. Not much, but I will give more when I can! Priceless!

Thank you for posting this, wish I could have been there to hear him speak. His teachings have helped me enormously and this talk is, imho, his best talk of all on dealing with fear.

Considering that this is published by the University of Cambridge, you would expect them to have some slightly better recording and sound equipment.

A noisy child in the background is not my idea of meditation, apart from that I am sure it is a good video if you have the patience to listen to it.

But it is! It helps you practice non-desire. But I totally get it. I desire the baby be removed. Lol

Frustrating that the audience and the moderator's sound is better than Ajahn Brahm's. Argh. And all of a sudden at the end everyone gets the sneezes and the coughs. Hard to hear! Argh. And is that a camera I hear? Yaaaa. That's okay. I am accepting it all. Albeit with irritation.

I had a hard time understanding this audio. The child is distracting and even though a child is beautiful , this is outrageous the parents weren't considerate of others. I can guarantee you the Monk was not happy nor understanding. Oh my God , did that parent just make a half attempt to leaving these people enjoy what they came for ? Children belong in meditation , but meditation with other families together. This was quite rude , I can still heat that child screaming. Go home already , Peace
