Great job dude! I’m 50, never skated before this year, learning because kids. Finding those small quarters is tough but the only way I could ever get anywhere. I have yet to attempt a stall but I’m motivated. I look forward to seeing you progress.

Thanks brother! 🙏🍺🍺 It's definitely not easy at this age to learn but like anything you get better with practice. And having your kid with you also helps. Showing up at the skatepark with no kid and being a beginner at this age is tough. I know nobody really cares these days as opposed to when I was young but still you feel a little self conscious. Especially when EVERYBODY is skateboarding and you are the only inline skater. 😂 The whole thing is a mental game, from getting motivated to go skate, to taking the risk with some tricks. But if I can do it so can you. I'm looking forward to next summer already when my kid is back out of school so I can get some cover from him and I don't look so goofy. 🤣🤣

I wish I could have found a smaller quarter (or even better a small miniramp) when I started last year. I had to start out on a 4ft quarter. 😅 It took me so long just to be able to pump all the way up it. Lol
@AWS-Blading15 күн бұрын
@@mattostrokol Yeah I'm not sure I could have progressed like this with only a 4 foot quarter. But it's absolutely amazing how good you've got in only a year and with only a 4 footer. 🤙🤙

Great video! Greetings from another middle age beginner skater. One small advice: when you go backward from the stall, try not to step back. It is better and safer to just ride with one of your feet over the coping without lifting it.
@AWS-Blading12 күн бұрын
So you are talking about 180 back in right? You mean don't hop back in?
@gregonskates12 күн бұрын
@@AWS-Blading I mean backward drop in (I'm sorry, I'm not an expert in the terminology). Like in 6:06 for example.

New subscriber here 👋 I started park skating last December, I’m 51. I prefer quad skates though as I’ve always skated them. I love your videos 😊

Sick! Quad skates are awesome too! Been thinking about grabbing a pair myself.

50 here, in the process of moving I found my old Oxygen XE 1.1 rollerblades. Haven't been on them in yrs, so I went out on them one night. After that I ordered some Rollerblade Lightning 90's. Going out to the boardwalk right now 😂

Nice! The boardwalk that also sounds nice! Somewhere warm? It's getting cold here in Toronto. But yeah have fun brother, we have to do it while we are still young.

@AWS-Blading No. It's chilly here in NY. I'm not waiting for nice weather.. I want to be way better by the summer. I bladed for 4 miles.

@@RamiSimmons Oh NY! Nice I was just in NY City this past summer. I'm from Toronto so I love to be in the city. NY city is amazing. Ya I have been skating in the cold here too and as long as there is no snow I will probably keep skating. Then I will break out the ice skates.

Thanks I appreciate that! 🙏🙏🍺🍺 Yeah it's a fun park for sure. It's pretty street oriented so when I can actually get some grinds going it will be even more fun.

Yooo that’s goood. What I did to get comfortable with grinds on copings (I’m not the best at it tho) is approaching the coping almost as you usually do it but then as soon as you touch the coping push yourself a little bit to get that mini slide and then roll back fakie. Then faster and “longer” you’ll start to feel it better my man, next thing to do is soul stall
@AWS-Blading15 күн бұрын
Great tip! I tried to come at a slight angle but I started to slip out of balance and aborted. I also have my feet too close together so I was thinking to spread them more when I got on the coping. I have a PVC rail I made and front side grinds are too slippery and I fell a bunch of times. How do you "push yourself a little bit" as you say? Come in straight? or on a tiny angle?
@mattostrokol15 күн бұрын
@@AWS-BladingPracticing jumping on curbs and locking in with the right foot position can help build the muscle memory and confidence too.
@AWS-Blading15 күн бұрын
@@mattostrokol Yeah I will try doing this. I have a very low new ledge at the school near my house. I used a grind block on it and waxed it. I forgot to use clear spray paint on it before waxing but it should still slide. Might check that out tomorrow.
@joseph05039413 күн бұрын
@ come and and tiny angle and once you’re on top try to push yourself to the side you usually slide. On prails if you’re falling to much do the same. And make sure all your weigh is dead center, make sure to land firmly and strongly because sometimes it feels like you’re gonna do a split haha I would do a small tutorial but I’m still injured haha maybe in the future I can teach you some things or two on other tricks. Just keeep at it man never give up
@AWS-Blading13 күн бұрын
@@joseph050394 Thanks brother!🙏🙏🍺🍺 Ya I took a try at my p rail again and I was sliding this time. I did it on grass though to get the feel of sliding first. I put a new video up on my channel.

You accidently did a royale 😎
@AWS-Blading9 күн бұрын
hehehe. Yeah a tiny royale, lol.😃 Not sure if I can be flexible enough and my knees can handle royales though. But I have been able to grind on my pvc rail now doing frontsides so I'm hoping I can get a frontside to fakie when I get back out there to this spot. Then eventually on the 4 foot quarter and the 3 foot closer to me. And I want to grind the low rails at my local skateparks.

This might sound silly but small ramps will trip you up because essentually you end up going too slow . and the transitition changes very quickly not giving your body enough time to maintain ballance especially re-entering after the grind . looking good though keep it up .
@AWS-Blading13 күн бұрын
Ya I was thinking this too. I'm basically on the ground when I land, lol. I have a new vid up of me doing the 180 on a 4ft ramp.
@Dailyroach13 күн бұрын
@@AWS-Blading Nice , the bigger transitions should help you get into and out of the grinds more smoothly giving you more time .
