I see I lot of people commenting on the speed. For one this is the second song in his beginners playlist, he goes through the first one slower and after learning that this song can be picked up quite quickly. And I personally like the speed anyway, he plays it through each note at a time and then runs through the whole part at a steady pace that you can play along with. Also this speed means that I can rewatch it quickly multiple times as I practice.

Hey John, love these videos, and I've got a few questions for you. I've been learning/playing banjo for about a month. I've gotten down that basic rolls, and I can confidently play both Cripple Creek and Banjo in the Hollow currently at about 50%-75% Speed. My question for you is: Should I continue to focus on those two songs until I can make it close to, if not 100% speed, Should I Start learning more songs, Or is it all Really a personal Preference matter? I really hope to hear back from you, and I love the way you teach, and the song tutorials you've made that I've seen so far!

Hey John I am curious, why is it said in the Earl's book that the slide is from 2nd fret to 4th fret when everybody goes for the bended slide to the third fret? I obviously hear how it's supposed to sound but it's I would assume that Earl himself writes it best. 😀
@JohnMooreVlogs
@JohnMooreVlogs 2 жыл бұрын
The book wasn't actually written by Scruggs. If I'm not mistaken, Bill Keith played a role in writing it. I never really understood the purpose of the 2-4 notation either. I usually just do the 2-3 without the bend though a lot of people like the bend. I guess it's all just preference.
