Bro, I live in the middle of fuckin England, ive got no business owning a banjo, I've been playing guitar for a couple years now, quite easily picked up bass and ukulele from that, but I've just bought a banjo and it's SO different. I've been scrolling KZbin for a couple days now and I'm getting a bit but I don't think the videos are really helping. You, on the other hand, are fuckin A mate. I'm binging this playlist and you're just obviously so knowledgeable and passionate, and you speak in a way that I understand. I love your vibe, I love the way you teach, and I think you're incredible.

Wait I have a question about banjos, can you tune a banjo left handed like a uke, or do you have to buy strings and restring it??
@PeteHarperUK2 жыл бұрын
Just brought one found this interesting 🎶🎶🇬🇧
@DBK4152 жыл бұрын
You could tune the 5th string as high C or even C#. B is the same tension as a hi g on a 25 scale 12 string. I assume the 5th string has a scale length of 19.

I am having this issue where I am getting closer to the correct sound of the string but it feels like it is getting tight at the point where I don't want it to snap on me again... What do I do?

what are the strings of that banjo? steel or nylon?
@braydenbennett8063 Жыл бұрын
Banjo strings are made of metal - stainless steel, nickel-plated steel, or phosphor bronze string alloys [5 string banjos generally just have one wound string, the 4th string]. Nylon strings would appear on a banjo ukulele (tuned like a soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele... GCEA) and some clawhammer (old-time) players prefer nylon (albeit rare to see).

What brand do you recommend for a beginner?
@JohnMooreVlogs5 жыл бұрын
If your budget is less than $250, then I would just buy the cheapest one that has a resonator, an arm rest, and geared pegs. If your budget is less than $400, I would just go with anything that has a tone ring if you can find one. If you don't mind buying used, I would recommend fender if you can find a decent condition used one. I don't know if they're making banjos anymore, but the banjos they made were some of the best out there for the money. The FB 58 which I own is a phenomenal bargain and the FB 59 is on par with my Gibson Earl Scruggs model. The Fender Leo is a fine banjo as well. I also know a few people who own Morgan Monroe banjos and are quite happy with them.
