I'm a father of 5 boys, and haircuts are very expensive. Because of this, I cut the younger boy's hair into a caesar; however, my older boys go to the barbershop which is about $80 per month. Anyway, I've been watching dozens of videos on KZbin in an attempt to learn how to fade, and I must say yours has been the most helpful and most informative. Just wanted to say thank you.

Hey Will, Just wanna say thanks for this Video. Ive watched many over the years and this one is really clear and precise. I do a lot of classic cuts and have always faded with adjustables. To be honest, my fade game left me wanting more. Ive adapted this technique in the last couple days using My Octanes and dude! My fades have never been easier or better. New levels are a real joy to reach even after cutting for so many years. Be blessed my brotha as you teach so many new people. Excellent! Thank you..Vinnie Todd

Damn brother, that cut was sharp and A HUGE THANK YOU for being the one to finally break it down and explain it as thorough as you did. I've been cutting since like 96 and i have my own way or method on fading but no one and i mean no one has explained it like you did. I'm not a license barber, i just do it for my kids and or buddies here n there. All though i feel like I'm kinda late in the game but I've been thinking about getting legit with cutting and open my own spot. But to be honest i don't how I'm gonna be able to do so, being that my job now kinda gets in the way. I'm a police officer in PHILLY and my hours change every two weeks from day to evenings and i can't find a school that will allow me to switch. Feeling stuck.

Will, I thank you so much for setting the trend instead of follow one. Many use adjustable because they see so many others (in shops and videos) so the same. They must remember that if their goal truly is to become a licensed barber/stylist...time is money. The detachable clipper in my opinion serves a barber/stylist best because it can most hair cuts/styles better than any adjustable. It can remove bulk, edge up and even cut wet hair too! If you are a new barber or stylist looking to cut styles mostly done with clippers, invest in a detachable and associated blades. I was able to purchase a "previously owned" Oster Classic 76 and Model 10 for only $60/ea. The Model 10 has great power but smaller foot print than a 76. I keep my Andis Maters as third sting backup... but my fade master is great for final fade clean-ups LL

The best video ever..... I needed this, so glad you don't have loud music while your teaching your techniques. Where is your shop? I live in Atlanta Georgia and I am getting ready to start barber school, I saw another video on how to get started, they said school isn't really good thing to do

April Mobley, I don’t know who told you that school wasn’t good but that’s far from true. A great instructor can make a difference but ultimately you get out of it what you put in it, if you are driven, dedicated and passionate about your education and longevity in this industry you will go far. A great education is the foundation of a successful barber. I’m in the Atlanta area as well, if you are looking for a school or just need some help please feel free to contact me. My instagram is @ms_fulks we can communicate further from there. Peace, love and hair grease

April Mobley no problem, I am happy to help you this is a big deal and it’s very important to me that you are aware of all your options. The barbering industry is so big there is plenty of room at the table I hope you take a seat. I am so excited for you this is just the beginning for you 🙌

Wow, I gotta try this method. I'm just starting to fade with detachables, and I've always faded up by going up the ladder of blades in order. I'm going to try this method next time. Great technique.

Ron, I too used the same method of fading up (learned this from AD The Barber) but I must say Will's method has come in handy too! Either way using a detachable has cut down on time while delivering a crispy cut. It all depends on type of hair you are cutting...

yeah, I learned from AD the Barber too. I think this method might be better for me when I cut my son's hair. He won't sit still and I think this method may work better for that.

I feel like this method may be better, because when I just fade up with just the one bottom guideline, sometimes I get lost on where the overall line is. I think setting the all the guidelines in first, then fading, may help me.

RyanUnfinished I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had that same problem
