Your road trip brings back a lot of memories of a cross country road trip my wife and I did in 2014 in our 2012 MS, 8000 + miles from Edmonds, WA to NYC to march in the Peoples Climate March and then down to Florida to visit friends in Jacksonville. We were challenged back then because the Supercharger grid was not fully built out especially through Montana on I-90. We had to overnight at two RV parks to access RV charging outlets, and a fellow Tesla owner let us charge for 4 hours in Bozeman, MT. It was an epoch trip, and watching your trip brought back a lot of positive memories.

We went to North Dakota from Boston. It was before we had a Tesla. But we did drive Lexus RX-450H Hybrid. We pulled a 3500 lbs popup camper. It still got 19 MPG. I was surprised. We went to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Then dropped down Custer Custer State park in South Dakota to watch the annual buffalo roundup.

I know it would take up more room, but what about adding a power station in the back where you can recharge it with solar panels. This way, it’s completely separate from your vehicle… you could run a Bluetti or EcoFlow power station. Just a thought Since it could be used for sew much more.

Help me understand the roof tent. The Tesla roof rails say a maximum weight of 150 lbs - the tent is almost all of that before people.
@trees8123 жыл бұрын
I’ve read elsewhere it’s 150 lbs when moving. Stationary max weight is much higher, like in the 500s.
@anthonyreynolds23653 жыл бұрын
@@trees812 Exactly. The roof is designed to hold the weight of 4 Model Y's stacked on top of it. The 150lb limit is to ensure the normal stability of the vehicle at speed. You don't want to make this car top heavy when moving.

@JuanMii243 жыл бұрын
A to D share. Same number always share. On V2 is a 150kw cabinet for A and B. Alone max output shared 75kw. On V3 each cabinet is 1 MW splits 250kw per stall. Doesn't matter if only one stall is in use or all 4

If you do dual 12v battery set up can you do double 12v lithium ion battery set up!
@k345613 жыл бұрын
My strong suspicion is that V3 Superchargers do share. They say they cabinet can handle 1 MW. What they don't tell you is they power input to the cabinet doesn't. I saw a photo of the name plate that listed a 480 V 500 Amp 3 phase input. At a power factor of 1.0, that is 415 KW. Not anywhere close to 1 MW. There was an extra input 550 KW (DC?). Maybe for a Tesla Powerpack battery or connect to another cabinet. Or on sites with heavy usage they could plug in extra power. Who knows. I have a only charged on a V3 a couple of times. On the way out on a week day, by myself I got 250 KW. The same site was mostly full on a weekend, 7 out 8, I don't think we ever went about 150 KW. My guess full sharing level on a V3 is probably at least 90-100 KW, better the V2's 70 KW.

I'll never understand those who tent camp with a Tesla. I want the climate control and safer / quieter camping experience of the Tesla camp mode. With Roof top storage / tents you diminish range. My approach is minimizing gear for experiencing the outdoors via hikes and more destinations rather than the lower range, less comfort, longer setup time.

I plan to road trip to Glacier national park, from FL, in the next year or two in my Y Not much of a camping person, sooo my Trip will be a little different Curious what speed you’ve been typically doing and your average wh/mi. I think you said 450ish at some point I watched a video from Kyle several months back when he was surprised how good his range was with a rooftop storage device. He was driving his 3, and I’m sure his storage device is smaller than your tent Just curious Hope all goes well!!! Enjoy yourselves thoroughly!
@i1Tesla3 жыл бұрын
My tent is larger than Kyle's rooftop storage. My Wh/mi averages 430 at 75 mph. Keep in mind, the tent, big tires, lift kit and a full packed car also come into play with the Wh/mi. Softroading yesterday my Wh/mi was 350, having a blast!
