This looks good I am currently looking for a user friendly software application to cut down on time spent estimating I am familiar with using the free sketch up program and cad lt I am finding the cad subscription has become to expensive and limited in uses for me now Upgrading to sketch up pro with this estimator might work better for me Thanks for the demo it has given me a viable option to explore in more depth.

Bearly starting using these program, where do you get the lumber in the program?
@BrockWorksInc4 жыл бұрын
You can model lumber a number of ways. For something like a deck, you can simply draw a rectangle that is 1-1/2" x 9-1/4" (2x10 joist) and then push/pull tool and pull it out however long you want - triple click on it to select all faces and then texture it to look like wood (I just use the treated lumber material that comes with SketchUp). Important, while you still have all of it selected, group it or make it a component (difference between the two). The other way to model lumber is using a plugin called Profile Builder, but you can do it with native tools. There are tons of KZbin videos out there on native SketchUp tools. I downloaded joist hangers from the 3D Warehouse and you can model decking the same way as the lumber. Have fun!

@@marklaffey7972 Awesome! I built a house down at the end of your street on the right for Dr. Boone years ago. I have building at SML for 25 years or so and yes, I developed Estimator for SketchUp (and Framer, PDF Importer and Issue Tracker), all of which I use for my own workflow.

how you selected the component by estimator, do you push any button,?
@EstimatorforSketchUp5 жыл бұрын
Estimator displays information about whatever the current SketchUp selection is, so if you select a component, then you will see information in the Components tab, if any info was added.

where do you get the plug ins? like mirror?
@EstimatorforSketchUp6 жыл бұрын
Mirror is a free plugin from TIG - checkout www.sketchucation.com, there are tons of plugins available there and there is a sketchucation store plugin for SU, which is a tool inside of SU to download plugins. To do the selection of instances of the joist hangers, I used Selection Toys from ThomThom, which you can get on the Extension Warehouse. Most the other tools in this video were native SU tools that come with it. The other of course is Estimator for SketchUp
