Thank you *VERY, VERY MUCH.* These basic things really accelerated my learning curve tremendously! I basically started last week and now have already completed the simple floating shelf for my hi-fi components. With rounded, routed doors - once I went back to 2-D and getting the shape right before pulling it was an absolute breeze!!! Most helpful concepts: 1. Mouse control - clicking and leaving the item. 2. Grabbing the edge or corner. 3. Using the press of scroll wheel to orbit. 4. Activating the hand tool whilst doing all other things.

I'm an Interior Design student and I've struggled with sketchup since the beginning, a couple of months now. To the point that I was wondering how I was going to finish my course without being able to use sketchup properly, especially cause I found my self wasting so much time!! So thank you for this tutorial! The most helpful tip was understanding edges, endpoints and faces, and applying this to the move.

To group stuff was the best tip for me. I often made sticky things, that was not meant to be sticky. Pushed 'Undo' several times and started over. So I am going to pay more attention to grouping and two other things covered in other videos here: layers and components. Thank you for some great tutorials.

Have just downloaded Sketchup2017 Make (as it is free and downloadable) until I get to grips with the basics. This first lesson of how to start in 2D I fully get as a designer, plus the 7 tips for creating, editing, and navigating the system are not with me and I made notes too so that I don't forget. The process of making a note helps to reinforce this rather than just watching and nodding your head - 10 minutes later and you have forgotten! Really impressive professional video, concise without lots of needless waffle that many KZbin demonstrators do forget when making instructional videos.
