very nice lesson- I'm one of those who are impressed with people who know music theory...but I don't want to get all knee deep in such. I appreciate the time you take tp put these lessons up for us all to enjoy and learn from.

Excellent lesson for beginners. I had to learn this through tons of videos. I dig the way you incorporate just enough theory to encourage further investigation, but not intimidating to a beginner. All of your videos are great, as well. Please continue to make more, especially fretless "how to play X" videos.

I like building 'em but can't play'em - yet. I'm going to work my way through your videos and learn how to make my CBG's come alive. Now if you can teach me where the 25th hour of the day is I'll get started 😃😃 But seriously folk this is pure gold to me as a beginner and I look forward to the journey, many thanks 🤗🤗😎😎

Absolutely First Class as always Kris. As an older (sort of) beginner I need some quick fixes and 'sweet spots' are the way to go...it's the playing not the thinking that matter...thanks...🤗🤗

First of your videos I've seen, and this should help me quite a bit. I bought my first CBG last year, a local guy builds them, so no shipping was nice. I'm actually looking to upgrade to a better instrument. This CBG has been okay, but something is off with the action that even the builder couldn't fix after telling him about it. I'm coming from a 6-string electric style to play the CBG, and I've always used a pic. So, I'll learn finger picking along with playing a 3-string. This video (and I'm hoping your other videos) should help with both of those. Thanks for posting!

Welcome aboard! Cbgs are an amazing adventure. Don't be afraid to build your own. If you're playing slide (fretless) the action doesn't matter, some of mine are over a half inch! I answer all comments and emails. Some of my lessons have tabs and they are always free 😀

@@busker909 Thanks for replying. I was thinking the first one will still be good for playing with a slide. The chords are too difficult to play on a lot of the fret board.

Hi, thanks for asking. This lpg (license plate guitar) has piezo glued under the plate. You can find them on Amazon for a couple bucks. Good luck in your musical journey!

Excellent, what you showed makes absolute sense! I can do this. Question about your guitar. Are the piezo pickups on the license plate or elsewhere? And, do you have a preamp before your apmlifier? Thanks again. Subscribed.
@busker909
@busker909 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for subscribing! The piezo is hot glued to the plate on the upper side by the bridge. I'm not using a preamp but the piezo is quite large, 2". So it's fairly loud on it's own. Cheers

Hi there - I'm having another go at playing my CBG - i just get put off too easily by the horrible sound I make. I'm Ok when i start with the slide resting on the string, then pluck it and move the slide down/up the neck but when I have already played a string and then go quickly back up the neck and play the same string again i get a horrible buzzing noise when my glass slide hits the string - do I somehow need to damp the string behind the slide with another finger first to stop it vibrating. Thanks - much appreciated
@busker909
@busker909 3 ай бұрын
Yes 👍 let at least 1 finger stay on the strings as you move. If you don't want the slide sound lift the slide slightly but leave your finger(s) on the string. Best of luck this time!

Don’t mean to sound snobby. I can tell at the beginning when you were referring to harmonics that just by your finger positioning when you hit the note, your intonation is off. That causes notes to be flat or sharp when you press on the frets. I’ve been building for 50 years, take it from me. Other than that, good beginner introduction 👍🎼🎸

Thanks 👍 but there are no frets. Which is why later in the lesson I mention to rely on your ears because fret marks are often out of whack. I appreciate you commenting 👍

Open, 3, 5...slide down to Open, then up to 12 with some vibrato. Simple lick that will make you sound like a pro. I'd call it advanced beginner
