I have always used my Mom's heirloom recipe for butter cookies. We call them Christmas cookies but I used to bake and decorate almost 40 dozen for my 3 kids classes. Teacher's used to ask me to make the cookies or my cupcakes for any occasion at school. 😆 My family owned a bakery/cake shop for over 50 years and I was the cake decorator. My favorite was cookies! Christmas cookies and Snickerdoodles! ❤

@@LittleCookieCo I can see why, brilliant choices from that sort of light strawberry red, to dusk blue. Have you ever thought about dusting it with metallic or a pen applied metallic. The result look just like chrome, or a shimmery iridescent If it's more of a subtle metallic.

There's a few different ways you can do it. You can trace a design on tissue paper and then trace over the tissue paper onto your cookie, or you can use this method which uses the reflection which I used when I first started out kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIbXf6VrZtuSj9U

Thank you so much! It's hard to say how many seconds is the outline, I look for something that holds it's shaped when its piped but with a good shake will slowly settle. If I'm doing more line work and detailed work, I tend to make it a bit stiffer. I have quite a lot of videos now, but if you look through my Playlist I try to keep the ones for technique in one and tutorials for design in others so its easy to find. But ill give you the links for the icing and cookies below. So exciting that you will make them with your daughter, I'm sure everyone will love them so much! And I'll leave you a tipless bag video as well. And under that video in the description, I have links for where I get my tipless bags from. You don't red a scribe tool, you can use a toothpick to smooth the icing down but you can also find one on Michael's or on Amazon as well. Other than that you need some good colours, so wilton color rite bottles, or americolor, chef master, and of those concentrated colours will work! I love this ! HOWEVER !!!.. I doh't know in what Universe you believe these are "beginner" cookies. God love ya for your over-developed confidence in other cookiers ! but yeah. Not "beginner" :) PS. I have an order for Ukrainian Christmas cookies, specifically a wheat sheaf motif. I am using your design as inspiration for it.

As complicated as these look, I find them much simpler and easier to do than most other of my cookies. I'm not really good at freehand piping designs and these type of designs seem to work even if you don't do them perfectly and thats why I love them and think they are for beginners! Because you can make mistakes but keep going and it all comes together somehow and looks great!

I have not yet, but I am planning to do one hopefully sooner than later! Ivory is a great colour t have because when you add it to regular colours like red, blue, yellow, orange it really makes it a whole new colour! Don't be shy to experiment, even adding the slightest bit of black sometimes gives you amazing shades too!
