I’ve been using spray Gorilla Glue and have had very few problems with great results. I have to be careful to let each layer dry, ie. spray paint, glue/glitter, clear coat, and then epoxy, but it makes things much easier.

This is a great vid, and I have to say as a newbie I tend to come back to your vids the most. Very helpful! I did want to ask though when you were not going to seal the glitter before applying the epoxy as the end, what did you mean by sealing the glitter and what do you use to seal it with? Thanks for any feedback.
@FlynnSistersBoutique2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching my videos! I’m so happy to help. By “sealing” I mean spraying it with a clear spray paint to hold everything in place before epoxy. Glitter tends to travel around when we spread that first layer of epoxy on so sealing just keeps it still. Sometimes I’ll use a water based urethane sealer instead of the spray

does it have to be spray paint? can you use those little aryclic paints you find at Walmart or hobby lobby?
@FlynnSistersBoutique10 ай бұрын
You can use acrylic paint. The coverage isn't as good/consistent so you dont want to use it under an opal or iridescent glitter because any inconsistency in the paint base below will show through.

Just tried the epoxy method last night and so far I love it. I do have a question tho do I need to seal before going in with the second coat of epoxy?
@FlynnSistersBoutique2 жыл бұрын
You dont HAVE to seal before the next coat of epoxy but if you're using a chunky glitter, i highly recommend it so your epoxy sits on top of the glitter instead of seeping below it. Even with fine glitter, clear sealing it first helps give you a smoother first coat of epoxy.
@reginaedwards8972 жыл бұрын
Thanks!!! I really appreciate you replying so fast. Hope you have a great Sunday. I will go ahead and seal it to be safe. It’s my first GST shattered glass on a tumbler so I don’t want all that work to go to waste.

Hi! I've been trying to watch all your videos, I'm a total newbie so you make things so easy to understand and you make such beautiful tumblers. I do have a question though. I really enjoy sublimation, however, if i plan on sublimating on my sub tumbler and then glitter do i need to sand the whole tumbler BEFORE sublimation? I'm really confused on that part. Any tip regarding this helps. Also I see people say to sand after epoxy, that blows my mind because in my head, that would ruin my tumbler? Thanks for your time. Now back to your videos i go.

Welcome to the tumbler community! I am sorry but I am not able to answer your question because I do not sublimate tumblers.

@ Michelle: You do not sand your tumbler before sublimation. Sanding is done after your epoxy layering.

@FlynnSistersBoutique3 жыл бұрын
Spray adhesive give you a tacky surface. It works for fine glitter but chunky glitter wont be able to lay flat with the sprsy adhesive. A spray sealer just seals down your glitter before epoxy. It isnt used to apply the glitter.

The issue I had when I used epoxy to apply glitter is- I could only do one layer of glitter. For instance I tried to apply chunky over fine and the chunky just fell off. Then the glitter moved and mixed when applying epoxy. So tips?
@EmilyMineDesigns3 жыл бұрын
When using chunky glitter and the epoxy method I always use more epoxy than I normally would. I also use more than normal when using more than one glitter color. Using more epoxy also helps the chunky glitter lay flat on its own without having to pat it down. As far as the glitter moving when epoxying, make sure to seal your glitter when your adhesive epoxy is cured but before your first layer of epoxy over the glitter. I use Krylon Triple Thick to seal my glitter but you can also use any other clear spray paint. Some other alternatives include Polycrylic (liquid and spray both work), CCDIY Quick Coat, Mod Podge (liquid and spray both work). What you use is all about preference. You just need to make sure the glitter is sealed so you don't have movement. I know my glitter is sealed enough when I can rub my hand over my glitter and none comes off. Sealing also helps prevent repelling of the epoxy over chunky glitter and microbubbles. Hope that helps!
