A tip as far as spray paint goes, if your glitter is translucent a base coat goes a long way. You'd need many coats of translucent glitter to get a solid covering. Base coating, especially with a matching color helps reduce the coats of glitter you need for good coverage

Hi Jennifer, first off, let me say that I always enjoy your videos. You go into such great detail that even a first-time crafter can follow the instructions with such ease. You always make such beautiful projects, I love them all. Being new to tumblers myself, I am surfing KZbin almost all day, every day, to learn as much as I possibly can. With that being said, I watched a video the other day where the host was using chunky glitter and she took an extra step to almost guarantee that the glitter lay flat on the cup before any other steps were made. She used Reynolds plastic wrap (though I am sure parchment paper would work as well) and placed the tumbler flat on one end and rolled it while pressing against the tumbler. This process allowed her to flatten the glitter against the tumbler. I thought that it was a great idea and wanted to share it with you and the readers in case you or someone else wanted to try it.

Jennifer, loved the video. But I wanted to share with ya that if you are stopping the turner while it is still attempting to turn, over time, you can mess up the bearings and/or gears inside. Stopping the turner for a second to remove the tape would've made the cleanup a bit easier all around. Also, acetone is amazing on sloppy wet resin. Thanks for the video! they look great!

My mom got a Cricut and made a tumbler for my birthday and delivered it just today. It's two weeks after my birthday but WOW, it was worth the wait! I was curious on how she made it so I'm going through possible videos right now but your video started giving me deja vu...and then I remembered. She had shown this video to me months ago. I hadn't paid much attention but it started to filter back in the moment I saw the low-tech tumbler turner, lol! For helping my mom to come up with such an amazing birthday gift, thank you so much! She's making a similar one for my sibling as well. Below is the one she made me. Now...I'm a nerdy girl (woman, haha. Just turned 31) and love Japanese anime. She made this one based on an anime I told her I enjoy. It's her first cup so I do see a few tiny mishaps but it's truly nothing I'm upset over. Nice tutorial, I use the same epoxy. I usually mix mine until its clear. I noticed yours was a little cloudy sometimes in my experience if you apply it when its still cloudy you can end up with a sticky tumbler. Mainly because it was not mixed properly. Just a tip just in case anyone tries it and have that problem. :)
@heckyeshess5 жыл бұрын
Sonya Lynette absolutely, that brand of resin has a 30 min set time, there is no reason not to take the time to properly mix until clear. If not mixed properly, it will fail in a short amount of time with the resin getting bubbles in it etc.

Someone needs to invent a glitter that isn’t messy. My wife has a business that does very well with mugs. I do the graphic work, she does everything else. Now, my house is a three story in the middle of nowhere with 15 rooms. More than we need but I set up one room in the top floor back corner for her crafts and that glitter is in EVERY room. Even found some behind the glass on one of my canon zoom lenses. Every room. About to make a rule she has to strip before leaving that room. 🤣😂

This video doesn't go into enough depth on safety, but later videos do and I am working on a full video just about epoxy safety in the hopes I can educate more people. I now wear a full-face respirator with organic vapor cartridges, nitrile gloves, and a PVC apron. :)

@@JenniferMaker cool I've just been seeing so many diy that are like hey hang out in front of it no respirator or mention of at least well ventilated area I mean I had a wimpy n95 carbon filter set n gtfo Asap it was table top so a bit easier way less baby sitting lol I think the vid I watch before this some girl wasn't told at all about safety now has respiratory issues I felt terrible for her.

I know I am late to the party but may I offer some money saving tips? Someone may have said this already, but if not here it is. Silicone, resin doesn’t stick to silicone. You get measuring cups, a bowl, and sticks . There are also silicone gloves. Also silicone mats. You may already know this. I work with resin often and this saves me so much money. Hope this helps someone much love and thanks

I agree...I am so tired of people doing videos with toxic material and not even mentioning it!

Epoxy resin is toxic while it is curing, and safety precautions must be taken. Wear proper protective equipment (nitrile gloves, long sleeves, full-face respirator, and apron) and work outside or in a well-ventilated area. Do not allow epoxy resin to touch your skin or be inhaled through fumes or dust. If you get some on your skin, wash it twice well with soap and water. Always read the safety information!

Yes, I know. :) A respirator is in this video -- I link to one in a card right on the video so people can get one.

You could also allow the epoxy to drip down to the taped portion. The tape will be removed anyway. The football method would work by just planting the stick with the lid facing down.

Love the tutorial! If you try your tape from the other direction you can use the rotation of the turner to help you take off the tape for a smoother removal :).
