This was a really great explanation to simplify things. I am a floundering flybaby but love your enthusiasm and positiveness. One item to add is that, especially for working moms, the weekly home blessing can be split up over the week if they dont have time just on Monday. Thank you again for all you do for us. I especially love your weekly sheets. Having everything on one page makes it less complicated and more doable. We love you!

Today is my FlyLady ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!! I’m so grateful for this system. It has improved every aspect of my home life. With 4 kids (ages 8-17), it has been a godsend. A word to the newbies: I spent the first 10 months JUST getting my daily routines down pat. In fact, the only routine I did for the first 6 weeks was shining my sink at night before bed. It’s all that I could handle at that point in my life. And it has only been in the past two months that I’ve been able to add zone cleaning. There is no “one way” to the FlyLady system. Marla Cilly (the FlyLady) always says that housework done incompletely still blesses your family.

The setting a timer and realizing just how LITTLE time most tasks actually take, has been an enormous benefit for which I am forever grateful. I found the Fly Lady years ago when I was still married and a stay at home mom. Her system worked great for me then. I used it (combined with other things) to maintain my home. It worked great. I haven't had a system since before 2014 and it shows. I promised myself that I would find a way to make it work as a single, working mom of four. Part of my plan is to put the kids to work to complete some of these tasks! ❤️. Your video helped a lot! I just needed a quick template to get started again!

Sisters are great, aren't they? I have a confession. Living in an apartment in NYC, my air conditioning is through-the-window AC units. Because of the virus and New York phased in opening, I could not have my units installed. (I sent them for cleaning last fall), until yesterday. And it was too hot and humid to do my zone cleaning. I tried, and in minutes I was drenched in sweat. There are some who might read this and say, "work out," but being drenched in sweat after 2 or 3 minutes of doing hardly anything physical is different than running and working up a sweat. The temperature in Central Park, away from pavement might say 87 degrees (high 20's), but on the streets, with black pavement radiating heat, it can be 15 degrees higher. SO, I didn't get to my zone cleaning. But now I can. I don't think I can completely finish my zone, but.... something is better than nothing.

I also downloaded her app (iphone) and can’t wait to use it. Do you keep cleaning supplies in the rooms where you use them? Half of my issue is having to retrieve cleaning supplies from one location and getting distracted in the process. As a result, the task I planned on doing is forgotten until I’m in that room again. I've never made it very far into flylady... It's overwhelming. I also got a little defensive about the need to swish the bathroom... She didn't seem to provide a reason for doing that everyday. However, my kids are about as bad as a muddy dog, so one of my bathrooms could probably benefit from a daily swish at this point. You made this very simple... Now I just need to somehow print this checklist out... Last time I tried to implement flylady, it made my week so much smoother... But I also fell into bed totally exhausted at the end of the day. I guess I didn't stick with it because I felt a bit depressed about running ragged by the end of the day. Felt like I had zero time for me. Energy limitations & depression seems to be my biggest challenges.

Ok, great information! Question: On this system, when are all bathrooms being cleaned fully (tub, shower, etc.) weekly (as bathrooms that children/adults are using daily) need to be cleaned weekly? I’m asking since daily cleaning or zone cleaning (unless you’re in that zone) covers this (and would mean you’re not fully cleaning a bathroom that lives in different zones only once a month).

There is no time to grocery shop during the week.

Thanks Steph for putting this video together. I am trying out all systems to see what works for me. I loved the way you wrapped it to show how a day will look like. I have some questions there as a newbie to fly lady system. Please help me answer. For example in the evening routine it says start up dishwasher -2 mins. But to load a dishwasher it will take way longer time right? How do we account for all that time? Overall 1.5 hrs a day cleaning looks promising but I felt there is much more time to be spent than 1.5 hrs and I am working full time and so trying to see how much should I be prepared for.

I know that sounds counterproductive but when I try to do only 10 minus in the entry way I can't just stop because my entry way is my living room and my kitchen table. And the swish should I be doing that in my one bathroom daily? I know I'm overthinking this but I'm so done with my gross house! I’ve never heard of this and my house is constantly out of control with two little ones or it’s just the living areas always getting cleaned and neglecting everything else. I downloaded the app but was extremely overwhelmed. Thank you for this explanation

Hi there! I just downloaded the app and am missed where the "daily focus" is on the app. I see the daily routines, zones, and weekly blessing, but do not see the daily focus. Could someone direct me to where it is in the app?

Thanks for this video! It helps a lot. Can someone define what it means to "swish?" And what a launchpad consists of? Thanks!

I joined the Facebook group to start next week but have one question! Will we be starting with week one in the middle of the month?
@TheSecretSlob4 жыл бұрын
Nope, we'll start at the right zone for this time of the month :)

Interesting system but I just like to clean what I feel needs doing. I have OCD so I have to finish Job aswell once I start it so this would drive me nuts.

He does lots of the routine, dishes and after dinner clean up mostly! He also does the floors on the weekend

Wait- so you only clean your showers once a month when you get to that zone week? I’m trying to understand this system. I like the idea of it, but the perfectionist in me is having a hard time letting go of the “spend hours cleaning everything all the time” mentality.

This video was so helpful. I’ve been trying to get down the fly lady system and I couldn’t. U are a big help! Thank u!!!

I like the concept but it doesn't seem like something that someone who works full time could do. I didn't hear anything about work but mostly tasks that take up time during the day.

I’ve read some unpleasant things lately about The FlyLady not being inclusive. Well, I’m watching your channel (instead of hers) anyway because you make so much sense. Thank you for all the help!

I work 4/10 hour days outside my home so I’m gonna have to really think about how to work around that. I’m thinking for the zones surely I can muster up 15 each evening to complete one task in the designated zone. I’m gonna really focus on my home once my daughters wedding is over this weekend. Any suggestions for working flyers

You really have to break things up into small chunks of time! Use your timer and don't overdo it because you'll get burnt out!

Do you ever find that you don’t reach the bottom of your zone list consistently? Or do you rotate some of them to make sure the dining room gets mopped (for example)?

When do you clean the floor? Everyday? Do you vaccum le whole house everyday? When do you clean the toilettes?

I felt so overwhelmed by the Flylady website. You have not only have introduced this system to me (I had never heard of it until finding your channel) but it has completely changed my approach to keeping my house clean & organized. My home was in decent shape but my attitude needed some adjusting. Through you & the Flylady, I more organized, getting chores down faster & most importantly I feel calmer - there's a new joy. Thanks, Steph.

I love this breakdown. We recently moved and still have things to unpack and put away. I feel kind of overwhelmed and I work 5 days a week outside the home. Thank you for giving me a great plan to start over! I have used the FlyLady system for many, many years and it’s so fun to get things into a routine and keep up with everything.

Thanks. U make it easier to follow than her website, seems to overlap and you don't know what to do first..
