What is pom? It looks kinda like cheerleading mixed with dance but I've never heard of it before

It is basically what you just said! It’s typically done by dance teams in high schools, colleges, and professional football here :-) You’re supposed to hold Pom poms but I didn’t for the video haha

do you have any tips for trouble spotting turns after the first pirouette?

I would say to just relax your neck in order to be able to whip your head easier and faster. A lot of times ppl get stiff which makes it hard to move your head which means you get dizzy.
