Green Spot is one of a handful of 40% whiskey's that I think is absolutely worth the price of entry. I get a pina colada notes on the palette. pineapple, coconut, oranges and a mild coconut creaminess without being treacly/cloyingly sweet. A fun, easy to drink, somewhat unique flavor profile that's an easy first pour for people new to irish whiskey or just whiskey in general. That's how I categorize it. and over in CA. it's $53 bucks. This one definitely gets a place on my shelf.

LOL...the first 15 seconds are getting funnier and funnier. Your content is tops! And Josh - Peach preserves in orange marmalade sounds delish! Based on your description at around the 4 minute mark I'm guessing you're having vodka with caramel (for coloring) mixed with DelMonte fruit cocktail juice 🤣. Uh-oh...just found out we may be in for a mollywop (sp?) and...AND...I see a Stuff & Whiskey in the Kitchen series of videos. This means your going to have to re-think/re-build that new studio! BTW, now that I'm getting to the end, here's something to try - cherry smoked salmon. Made it, loved it. And roasted carrots - if you cook carrots at a high enough temperature for the right time their natural sugars will soften and caramelize them. Oh, if you're doing potatoes don't forget the bacon component. (I tend to write comments as I watch...)

Both bottles of Green Spot I've had, went really flat after the first couple of pours. The first 2 ounces were great, but not the rest of the bottle. Could be the 40% ABV
@stuffandwhiskey2 жыл бұрын
That’s fair. This was the last two ounces of the bottle and ours stayed pretty great all the way through, but definitely never drank above its proof point.

I just picked up my first bottle for $50! They've been fluctuating in price here in NorCal. As far as Irishes, only had Jameson (eh) and Redbreast 12 (both reg and cask strength - yum!). Looking forward to cracking this open!

I drank Wild Turkey 101 out of a wine glass last night and the flavors were totally different, heightened even. I thought what if you two did a video on trying the same whiskey in different vessels (glasses😂). Green Spot would be more perfect cask strength. It is actually my favorite Irish whiskey although Red Breast Cask strength may beat it out when I get a chance to try it. There is a lot of flavor for me, coconut comes through and apple
@stuffandwhiskey2 жыл бұрын
Coconut seems to be a prevalent note on this one, which highlights how little we eat coconut (read: never). Looks like we’ve got some homework to do. And great point on glassware. The glencairn is about as standardized as a tasting glass gets but it’s definitely fun to play with other glassware from time to time.
@bullseye01122 жыл бұрын
@@stuffandwhiskey Maybe try a coconut water to ease into coconut 😂👌 I think the Glencairn help give more flavor or complexity to the lower proof whiskeys to magnify the pallette. I've actually switched to my Brandy glasses for at 90% of my whiskey pours. The wider glassware seems to let the whiskey breathe more and let's the flavor and nose really shine on its own without compression. I didn't get coconut the first time I drank Green Spot, but loved it right away. Flavor is so good and rich.

“Stuff and Whiskey gonna give it to ya!” I love asparagus, but it can be a palate killer. I think I would go with a seasoned white fish. I haven’t had the normal green spot just their two wine cask finishes, which I think the Montelena finished one is tremendous, lending a lot of red fruit.
