I had a pour of Blantons at a bar once…I honestly wasn’t impressed..I’d rather have ecbp 524…and if I’m going to splurge on a pour my local whiskey bar has stag jr and more and a reasonable price

Thanks for the review! Not really a Blantons fan myself. I reach for EH Taylor 💯, ER or plain ol BT before I'd ever consider Blantons. Those JD select bottles are great everyday drinkers. I prefer the barrel strength at $70.

"Mid" is the same as mediocre. 🙂 I've not had the low proof Jack Daniel's Single Barrel, but the Single Barrel Barrel Proof is gorgeous. I have had a sample of Blanton's, and while it wasn't bad, I've had better for $30 right of the shelf. It definitely doesn't earn its reputation. I've also had a sample of Blanton's Straight From the Barrel, and it was good. But JD SBBP is better, and a ton easier to find. I had to cut out in the middle of the video last night, so now I'm finishing it. 🙂 Josh, you've said before that Blanton's is a $30 bourbon in a $30 bottle, and you're right. The *most* I would pay for Blanton's is 30 bucks, 'cause the whisky itself just isn't worth more. Shoot, I can get whisky as good or better, which I can find, for $30 or less - Old Forester 100, Evan Williams BiB, Balcones Texas Pot Still Bourbon, Knob Creek 9 year, Old Grand-Dad 114, and others (yeah, some of those I listed cost more than $30, but not much more 🙂).

JD CS SB is my special occasions pour, the single barrel you had is a great every so often pour, love the peanut butter and banana that I taste, I can get it for under $40. Never had Blanton's, can't get it.

Gotta love that single barrel roulette..... My JD SB select is nothing but bitter, tannic oak. And my Blanton's tastes like a dark, rich, well aged product.

While I love Luxardo, check out the Wal Mart house brand. Seriously, they are phenomenal and cheap. Not as sweet as Luxardo, but it has a spiceness to them.

I didn't know that y'all were in Nashville, but now that I know, surely you have tasted Uncle Nearest bourbon from Shelbyville, TN. So what is your take on their offerings? I personally think that the Master Blend Edition and the 1856 are really good.......

When she suggests it might be an old soured bottle of Blanton's it looks like you try to dispute her at first then come to the realization that she's probably right and then you just kind of Trail off saying it's not an old bottle because you haven't opened up a Blanton's in a really long time... which would kind of suggest it likely is the bottle she remembers?

Had a jdsbs pick that like another commentor said... was damn near a drain pour. I've avoided them since. Jack seems consistently to improve with proof for me. Blantons is fine. If you want something sub 100 proof it's hard to beat... but I don't often want something sub 100 proof.

Agree with Josh about the "bite" of a fountain pen (on the right paper of course!). Oh, and Ancient Age is an excellent value pour as well - kinda thin, but nice to go back to!

I had a bottle of regular Blanton’s and agree it was not that great. However, I’m told Blanton’s Gold is significantly better but I’ve never been able to get a bottle of it.

Had a pour of Blantons last night and felt EXACTLY the same as you did here.

The bottle of Blantons I picked up at Buffalo Trace right before Christmas was bad when I first opened it. It had real sharp and bitter notes. After it sat for a 2 weeks, it got much better but "thin" is a spot on description of it. It also has absolutely zero finish....it just goes away completely.

The Blantons I bought in December tasted like a ramped up Eagle Rare, albeit on the thin side. Happy with that one. I need to pick up another Jack Daniels single barrel. Agree that it is better. It also makes a really good old-fashioned.

Comparing single barrel's is tough. Most of the Blanton's bottles that I've tasted, minus a Gold store pick, have been good to great. Regular Blanton's goes for $79 retail in my area and it's pretty findable on allocation days if you skip your lunch hour. On the other hand, I've bought a JD lower proof single barrel store pick that was a drain pour. I also had a regular JD single barrel that was super delicious.

I love seeing Jack beat out Buffalo Trace stuff! You get past No. 7 and Gentleman Jack and they have some great stuff! As always great video

Ive had a bad bottle of blantons and blantons SFTB. Very disappointing. when you get good ones, they're sooo good, when you get a bad one, it's a total waste of money.

I got a blantons SBS late last year (2023) Had the barrel number on the sbs sticker so I emailed BT and asked for the info on that barrel. Came back as 4yrs 10months. Made a great Christmas gift for my boss. 😂😂😂

Looking forward to a S&W Blantons pick. I got very frustrated when your assessment of the Blanton’s bottle was so bad, since it is one of my favorite pours. It is a good lesson in variability of single barrel offerings. I have three bottles of Blanton’s because my first bottle was so delicious. Now I’m worried about the next one I open😬. I love my JD SB too!

I have been impressed with Jack Daniel's over the past 2 years. In my opinion the name Jack Daniel's suffered from a negative connotation of a cheap bar pour and bad hangovers. Now it has evolved into a respectable pour with fantastic flavors and has a wide variety of offerings that can appeal to all ages and levels of drinkers.

I can certainly sympathize with Erin. I should buy stock in Kleenex😂

I bought a bottle of Blanton's because, well... I'm a whiskey nerd. Have never really been a big fan, to be honest. I will pour it if someone wants to try it, but it's not one I'd choose to drink ordinarily. JDSB and JDSB Barrel Proof, on the other hand, are some of my favorite pours. I agree wholeheartedly.

Blantons is a decent warmup pour and it’s a fantastic gift for someone just getting into bourbon. Outside of that, it’s a beautiful bottle and not much more.

Guys. I have had Blantons multiple times and each time it's disappointing. Way over priced.
