Great work! I just made my first scroll knife and addicted aint the word lol. So satisfying having a block of steel and turning it into something useful.

@@Mysticmountainforge your welcome, I was a little big on the handle but ended up with a index in the handle instead of the scroll against the blade. Worked out pretty well

That was a nice clean job. You make it look easy. I always get all tense, for fear of making a huge mistake. Practice will take care of that, I guess. But, most of all watching you will let me steal a small little bit of your experience that I can learn from. Thanks for the demo. Great job. TTYL...

Thanks! I got a big stack from my brother, He got them from a yard sale where a guy had a bucket full that had filled up with water and ruined them.

I'm getting ready to use a forge for the first time that I bought off Amazon and I am curious of how long I put my blade in the Forge and how long are the thermal Cycles

What did you quench in? My options at the moment are canola oil and water
@Mysticmountainforge9 ай бұрын
I used canola oil for the quench, it worked really well. I appreciate you watching.

Great work man always want to do stuff with files and rasps but always worried the teeth with form cold shuts and cracks
@Mysticmountainforge4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I was afraid of the same thing so usually if I'm doing a knife with them I will grind off the teeth on the edge that will become the cutting edge of the blade as well as about a 1/4 inch up the sides, that way I still get the file texture without the worry of cracking. Then I usually do an edge quench. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

@@Mysticmountainforge that's a good way to do it do you usually do oil of water with them

Awesome knife! It would be cool to see some Kydex handle work if you know how. Also what is the beniet of a blacksmith knife?
@Mysticmountainforge4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I will look into that. I mainly make blacksmith knives to sell as novelty items, just like RR spikes, people love them. They are a much better steel being closer to 1095, I have also seen them used at western themed restaurants as steak knives. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
